Do Not Be Deceived

Focus: 2 Corinthians 11:3 - KJV

3. But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.

John 8:42-47

The world is full of deception regarding religion, the person of God and how to approach or relate with Him. Many see God as different sides of the same coin and view Him from the prism of their preferred prophet or some ancestor’s sayings. Indeed, every culture has such leaning and were in time past, drawn away from God by such beliefs. For instance, there is no doubt that Moses was put to use by God even as it cannot be asserted that Orunmila or Amadioha or Mohammed or Buddha did not represent God at some point to their people. But, a thorough review of most of the assertions we have of God’s being from some, if not all, of these persons are not fully correct about God. Hence, God sent Jesus to correct all the wrong injections subtly introduced to man as being part of His person. However, the simple carriage of Christ who came as an epitome of love can be used by the enemy to mislead many into believing He was just another prophet.

The devil beguiled Eve with horrible words that sounded sweet. Many have been so beguiled by the sweet fables that emanate from tradition. If Orunmila came in the name of the giver of life, how come those who seek to destroy others seek to do so through his medium? This is true of Amadioha and the others also. But Christ came to make us know that all these ones were thieves and robbers who came not but to steal, kill and destroy. And since God is life, He came to restore us to Him that is life. Unless it is the word of God through Christ or affirmed by Him, there is no life in it. Life flows from the word and the word is God.

The Lord wants us to be careful not to be drawn away from Himself with lies that appear little or inconsequential. A little pollution remains pollution. No matter how lucid water appears in a glass, once a little poop is added, it is contaminated. Please be careful whom you believe. The devil is never tired of deceit. And as the time is running out, he has become more aggressive about it. And, indeed, there is none other he needs to deceive than the believer. It was because Eve believed the word of God that he targeted her until he got her deceived. It is not likely he got her at the first attempt. He may have tried severally just like he has been doing with many of us. Please wake up and do not fall for his lies.

Please pray:

Father, I thank you for showing us the way to aligning with you in truth through Jesus Christ. Do not let me ever fall for the lies of the enemy in my quest to know you, or at all, in Jesus’ name. Whenever the enemy comes rushing at me with his guiles like a flood, let your Spirit counter the lie with the truth that I have found so that the enemy may fail, in Jesus’ name. Help me by your Spirit to constantly resist the devil so that he may always flee from me, in Jesus’ name. And by the power in the name of Jesus at the mention of which all knees should bow, let the knees of Satan and his emissaries bow today for my sake, in Jesus’ name.
