James 1:2-9

Without faith it is impossible to please the Lord. He is the source of all we are and need to be. As we depend on Him for all things, He needs to be pleased in us to a remarkable extent to grant us our desires. We cannot be calling Him a liar and expect to take benefit of Him. When we approach Him, we ought to do so with the confidence that what we seek, we will find in Him. Many would approach God with a positive request and say or do things that are against such request thereby presenting an unstable mind unto God. It is that God is able to do exceeding, abundantly above what we ask or think but according to the power that works in us. The power either works faith or fear. When it works faith, there is rapid positive result from God; but when it works fear, the negative begins to show by our actions because of our instabilities. When we trust God like a little child, we get exalted by Him.

Those whom we read about as great men of God did not waiver in their belief and that is why they were able to do the things they did. Moses got instruction about parting the Sea and it parted before his face; Elijah stood firm to bring fire down from heaven and it happened, he called down the rain after three and a half years of draught and he saw it; Joshua commanded the elements to stay still for a day and it did. David sought the head of Goliath the giant and soon enough he presented it to Saul. Christ told ten lepers who sought healing to show themselves to the High Priest according to the tradition about cleansing and they were cleansed. He walked on the Sea to meet His disciples and did not sink. The difference is, when Peter also did not waiver, he too so walked, but no sooner did he waiver, he began to sink.

The Lord is renewing our confidence today by saying to us that the fault of our not receiving from Him as we ought is never His but ours. He does not change. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. If Peter waivered yesterday and sunk in the drink, why must we assume we would waiver and continue to walk on water for showmanship? Unless we erase our minds of doubt in the matters that have to do with God, we cannot be pleasing to Him and we will be on the receiving end for that. Let us therefore make up our minds from today in our relating with God. If He be our God, then let us so take Him and not doubt Him again. If we do not yet believe in Him, then let us just stay in our lanes and stop making Him appear powerless before the heathen who see us call on His name.

Please pray:

Father, I thank you for the extent of knowledge I have of you to know that you are the unchanging changer. Be forever glorified in Jesus’ name. I have failed in the place of faith in times past; please forgive me, Lord in Jesus’ name. From this day, help me never to doubt you again no matter the situation or circumstance. I know that there is no temptation that may come my way greater than what others have been tempted with before: please help me to be firm in you no matter what the world sends my way, that I may be true to faith, in Jesus’ name. Let me never fall prey to the enemy even as I trust in you, in the name of Jesus. In my current trials and travails, I look to you today, please let the victory I desire come today, according to your will, in Jesus’ name.

Please share with others. God bless you.
