Don’t Seek God in Vain

Writer: Jide OlaoreJide Olaore

Focus: Isaiah 45:19 - KJV

19. I have not spoken in secret, in a dark place of the earth: I said not unto the seed of Jacob, Seek ye me in vain: I the LORD speak righteousness, I declare things that are right.

Isaiah 45:18-19

When God speaks of the seed of Jacob, He speaks of those whom He has tutored to know and relate with Him. He looks for them to relate with even though most of the time, because they do not conform to His standards, He stays far from them. That is when it becomes necessary for them to seek Him. This, they do when they realize their mistake and return to wanting to fellowship with Him. Meanwhile, it is the Lord Himself that gives the allowance to return unto Him just because of His love. Hence, when they decide to seek Him, He makes Himself available for them to find. But that, only when they are truly repentant. Today, the body of Christ is akin to the “seed of Jacob”. We had strayed from our God and have allowed His name to be blasphemed by not well meaning people. When the people of the Word slept in that they got carried away by the seeming affluence that they saw in ministry, the enemy sowed tares in that which had been planted and the world has been the worse for it. But there is a remedy.

The Lord is beckoning on His people to return to Him and seek Him now. To seek Him, we must first appreciate where we veered off His path and repent by returning to our first love. It is not a matter of using volte-face to want to justify our misdeeds. It is about genuinely seeking to right our wrongs and determine to do the will of God going forward. When the Most-High finds such in us, we shall not seek Him in vain. For, right now, it is vain for us to gather people together pretending to be worshipping God when God is not in the midst. It is share waste of time. It is important we all, whether leader or congregant, admit our faults and seek the One who called us to seek Him in the time of trouble, in complete humility. Consider Israel: every time they strayed from the Lord and humbled themselves to return and seek His face, He received them. He is still available to receive us today if only we will seek Him genuinely. He has not asked us to seek Him in vain.

SOLUTION: Let us put aside all our righteousness which are like filthy rags before the Lord today; come humbly before the Lord confessing with our mouths where we messed up and ask Him to rebuild us up. Assuredly, we shall thrive again.

And so, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, as we seek the face of the Lord again from now, the days of vanity are over and the Lord restores us to real victory anew. Every enemy of the Church speaking ill of the body of Christ are silenced by the Lion of the tribe of Judah now in Jesus name. Because you are a part of the Church, you will equally triumph in all your dealings from hence in Jesus’ name. A new thing has started. Hallelujah!
