Focus: Matthew 15:28 - KJV
28. Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.
Matthew 15:21-28
Faith is the unflinching confidence someone has in another. It is an element of trust beyond the ordinary. It is the currency, if at all, for transactions with heaven. No one is able to really obtain great things from heaven except by faith. It is erroneous to believe that the subject of faith has to do with only Old Testament actors as contained in Hebrews chapter eleven. Even verse six of the same chapter says without faith, it is (not was) impossible to please the Lord. Yes, Jesus Christ who is the author and finisher of our faith is the one to look to as example. The same Jesus commended a foreigner to the commonwealth of Israel for her great faith that brought healing to her home despite not being ordinarily entitled to such largesse. He even quipped at a point in His earthly life whether He would meet faith on earth by the time He returns. Invariably, Christ Himself accentuated the fact that without faith there is no pleasing God.
To draw people away from the importance of faith is an act of wickedness emanating from the pit of hell with a view to causing many to displease the Lord and ending up in perdition. If Christ said to the woman with the issue of blood, your faith has made you whole, who else has affirmed the importance of faith? He even said to His disciples, O ye of little faith, when they were unable to cast out mere demons. The place of faith in the believer’s journey cannot be overemphasized. Those with little faith will achieve little or nothing in the journey as they are not so pleasing unto God. But, if the faith is like that of the mustard seed, though it be little, it has the confidence to grow into a large tree if well nurtured. Those with great faith have the capacity to move mountains, just like the woman of Canaan did. The opposite of faith is fear or doubt. They that doubt are confused and cannot get anything tangible from God. While in faith, Peter walked on water like Christ. The moment his faith waned and doubt replaced it, he began to sink.
God is inviting us to exercise great faith going forward so that every obstacle to our making progress can be dislodged by our faith. It is only by faith that two people can agree touching one thing and have it done for them by God. It is faith in action that can make a man say to a mountain be removed and cast into the see, and it happens. In asserting faith, we need not invoke the name of Abraham, Noah or any other but that of Christ whose is the only name given to us under the heaven by which we may be saved. Hence, when we exercise great faith in the name of Jesus Christ, it works like wild fire. This is the testimony of the early disciples that made many to come into the fold, properly jumpstarting the Church of our Lord. If we refuse to exercise faith, we become empty barrels full of noise but without impact. Isn’t it also true that we are saved by grace through faith? Have faith in God.
SOLUTION: When Christ says have faith in God, it is not a plea but a direct instruction. When we obey Him, He will duly show forth as our Lord in the circumstance. The just shall live by faith. It is by faith that we rest in the Lord without struggling, assured that we cannot sink in the world’s ocean. Switch from fear or doubt to faith today.
