1. Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
1 Peter 2:11-12
There are glorious promises to every believer by the reason of the person, sacrifice and resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. There is the promise of eternal glory with the father, being together with Christ in the new heaven and the new earth; there is the promise of a new life in this present world by reason of our being reconciled with God by Christ and so many things that eyes have not seen nor ears heard. But then, none of these things can be actualized if we dwell in filth. It tantamount to the dog returning to its vomit for if we left the life of filth to embrace Christ, how come we get entangled therein again? For as many as are hopeful of the glory promised by Christ through reconciliation, the Lord wants us to stay out of filth which only portends doom and an inglorious ending.
Before Gehazi became a son of the prophet, he had a life. Even though there was nothing spectacular about him, but he was not leprous: the devil was mild with him, so to speak. Once he became son of the prophet, he became available to instruct people from the sound of the voice of the prophet and glorious things happened. He spoke of the Shunammite’s need of a son and told her the prophesy that came out of it and she got a son. He told Naaman to dip himself in the Jordan and he was made whole from it. He became a terror to darkness when he stayed with the prophet and clear from filth. The moment he moved to the side of the devil by delving into filth in seeking lucre from Naaman, the devil saw an opportunity to strike him hard. Alas, rather than inherit a double portion of the spirit of his father-prophet, he got the result of the filth washed off Naaman.
God is giving us insight into the workings in the realm of the spirit. They that wash themselves from filth attract glory and great promises therein whereas those who get unduly attracted to and operate in filth lose the benefits of righteousness and get the consequences of filthiness. Ironically, it does not matter how so much righteous a person has been in time past, once he enters into filth, he forfeits the promise of glory and enters into the consequences of filth. Which is why the Lord keeps drumming it to our ears that we abstain from filth. All those sins that easily beset us are traps from the pits of hell to avenge on us all the things we have done against the devil while operating in righteousness. No wonder Christ warns that we go and sin no more so that it will not be worse for us in the end than it was in the beginning.
Please receive this:
In the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the Lord will preserve you in righteousness and never allow filth to draw you into damnation. No devil will be able to deceive and destroy you like Gehazi, in Jesus’ name. Every promise of God for the children of the Kingdom will be yours and fully attained of you, in Jesus’ name. All of your righteous works will never be wiped away with filth and if there be any filth in your life that the accuser of the brethren is pointing at, the Lord will wipe the same away with the redemptive blood in Jesus’ name. You will enter into the promises of God for your life from today, in Jesus’ name.
Please share with others. God bless you.
