Focus: Psalms 84:5-7 - KJV
5. Blessed is the man whose strength is in thee; in whose heart are the ways of them. 6. Who passing through the valley of Baca make it a well; the rain also filleth the pools. 7. They go from strength to strength, every one of them in Zion appeareth before God.
Psalms 84:1-7
When things go really tough and awry, it is described as times in the wilderness or in the valley. Ordinarily, the valley is a low land between two hills or heights. Hence, those in the valley are shadowed by the hills and may not be amenable to the luxuries beyond the hills because of the enemy’s presence. Nonetheless, those who can locate the Lord in all of these to be in His house or tabernacle, remain strengthened even in the valley of the shadow of death. Instead of draught in the valley, for them it becomes a well; and rather than have dried pools, the rains fill them up. The secret is being on the Mountain Zion where God dwells, by always being in His presence.
David became a cave dweller and was alarmed. He refused though to leave the presence of God at any one time. No wonder he proclaimed that even though he walked through the valley of the shadow of death, he would fear no evil since God was with him. His boldness, confidence and strength he drew from being always in God’s presence. Despite being a fugitive and in a terrible valley, his greatest enemy offered him a whole locality called Ziklag to stay. It is unfathomable that a king would preserve the one man that was responsible for the defeat of his nation’s army severally and give him a city in his own domain. That is the kind of strength God seekers draw from Him in difficult times.
The situation in which we are may appear absolutely precarious. Because of the presence of many hills around, the entire sphere may appear darkened because of the shadow of the hills as if there is no way out. If only we will seek the Lord to be in His presence constantly, in that situation, glorifying Him and acknowledging He is the same whether on the mountain or in the valley, then will our strength arise in Zion and the valley will become wells and the pools filled with rain. It is God that will do it. Ours is to focus on Him and make Him the Lord of our lives still. The valley will never consume us.
Please pray:
Father, I thank you for always having me covered no matter the situation, or circumstance. Even now, as I walk through mysterious valleys with scary shadows appearing all around, please give me succor from Zion as you turn the valley to wells for me so that I may be well watered, in Jesus’ name. Let your rain of blessings fill the dried pools of my life in this valley of life, dear Lord, in Jesus’ name. Manifest your glory in my life by taking me from strength to strength in this very day, to the shame of the enemy, in Jesus’ name.
Please share with others. God bless you.
This is the word for my season.
