Focus On The Plough!

Focus: Luke 9:62 - KJV

62. And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.

Luke 9:57-62

Life is too short for people to be messing around with matters of the Kingdom of God. A time was when people would say they needed first to enjoy life before surrendering their lives to Christ. Their excuse then was that most of the preachers were aged and had enjoyed life before turning in to Christ. Unfortunately, death does not mark age before it visits its victims. The young do die just like the old. And it is only what we do whilst alive that will be reckoned for us in heaven. Therefore, because of the urgency in the spirit, there is no room to dilly dally any more regarding taking a stance about the Kingdom. As the train is moving, those who do not hop in urgently are at the risk of being left behind. It does not matter that one puts his hands on the door handle, if he loses concentration, he may be swept away by the wind. Hence, it is dangerous to look back while having hand on “the plough”. Lot’s wife did it and suffered dare consequence.

Many excuses that people give for not being able to follow Christ are truly flimsy and therefore, inexcusable. For indeed, no excuse will be justified for one who came to take us out of the bondage of sin by paying its wages on our behalf to be ignored and maltreated for His deeds over our lives by refusing to follow Him with all our hearts. The moment we start to dilly-dally, we are saying to Him we are not ready for Him as we prefer to still cuddle some other(s). With Christ, it is not right to go and first bury the dead before following the author of life; neither is it apt to go first to bid father and mother as well as kindred bye before following. Did He not really say we should hate father and mother for His sake to be fit for the Kingdom? Anything given priority to over Christ, is an idol which may make us lose focus on the journey to life in eternity.

Christ is saying to us that those things that we pride but are distractive to our focus on Him and His Kingdom will make us unfit for the Kingdom if we do not take adequate care. It is good to work for he who does not work should not eat. But it becomes horribly bad if because of work we do not have time for Christ and His kingdom. He provided the job in the first place. Let not your spouse or child become a distraction to your following Christ. Many had thereby lost precious ones to the devil for ignoring God because of them. Let not the wealth that God has given you turn you to His enemy. No one in enmity with God is able to stay long under the tutelage of the devil, his new master. He is the real description of wickedness and offers nothing else to those with him. Let us therefore give priority to Christ and keep our focus on Him to please Him throughout life.

SOLUTION: Cast aside every distraction that takes your mind and focus away from the Lord into somewhere else. Your salvation should be more paramount to you than any other matter.

Please pray:

·      Give thanks to God for introducing you to His plough so that you may lay your hands on it in the first place

·      Ask God to please sustain you on the plough so that you do not get distracted and lose balance to fall while putting your hands on the plough

·      Pray that the Lord will make the things of His Kingdom more attractive to you than any other thing of the world

·      Ask God for strength in the Holy Ghost to stand to the very end

·      Ask for your daily bread for today

If you are blessed by this post, kindly share with your contacts, as well as others, that they may be blessed also. Thank you and may God bless you abundantly as you do so, in Jesus’ name
