Genuine Pastors

Focus: Jeremiah 3:15 KJV: "And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding."
The promise of God is that when His wayward people repent, He will gift them with godly spiritual leaders and protectors. These true shepherds will not exploit or abandon the flock. Instead, they align closely with God's character and prioritize feeding His people with deep biblical truth, wisdom, and practical insight.
After Israel returned from the Babylonian exile, the people desperately needed spiritual direction. God raised up Ezra and gave him favor before the king to lead a remnant back to Jerusalem. Ezra did not lead by personal opinion. The Bible records that he "had prepared his heart to seek the law of the Lord, and to do it, and to teach in Israel statutes and judgments" In a famous assembly, Ezra stood on a wooden pulpit and read God's Word out loud from morning until midday. He and his helpers fed the hungry flock from the undiluted word and heart of God.
A true pastor's priority is the spiritual nourishment of the flock. Genuine leaders do not use the pulpit for self-glory or motivational tricks. When God blesses you with a leader after His own heart, that leader will consistently anchor you in the Word of God, ensuring you grow in clear, life-transforming understanding. Peter was made the first Pastor of the flock by Christ. His simple injunction to him was “feed” them. If we will truly repent today from our evil ways, God will ordain for us loving and God-fearing Pastors and no more hirelings.
Prayer:
Thank you, Lord for the manner of Pastors you have ordained for us in times past. Forgive us today for our evil cravings that brought us hirelings instead of God-fearing Pastors. From now on, please ordain unto us, as your people, your true stewards to feed your flock with greenest of pastures from you, in Jesus’ name.
Please share. God bless you.
