Focus: Psalms 36:7-8 - KJV
7. How excellent is thy lovingkindness, O God! therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings. 8. They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy house; and thou shalt make them drink of the river of thy pleasures.
2 Kings 19:29-34
Our God is a wonderful and excellent lover. When He is in love, He not only keeps His lover safe from external aggression or destruction of the enemy, He also lavishes the same with provision that keeps the mouth agape. The shadow of His wings creates a great fear and torment for the enemy so that, those who trust therein are kept safe from the brags of the enemy. Sennacherub, the king of Assyria, got to know this in a very hard way. He had sent messengers to king Hezekiah to threaten fire and brimstone, disregarding the person of God. His credentials of war must have emboldened him such that he spoke like he was the creator. In the end, when Hezekiah sought refuge under the shadow of the wings of the Most-High through the prophet Isaiah, the Lord arose for Hezekiah and Judah, and made an example of the king of Assyria of how not to mess with the beloved of God.
Not only did God defeat Hezekiah’s enemy for him, He also gave him so much benefit devoid of work. Judah was to reap things that would germinate of their own accord: in a better language, things sown by angels, for two solid years; and then on the third year, with little work they were to reap so much still. It is a delight to trust in God and to put reliance in Him. The birds of the air sow not, neither do they reap; yet they do not lack food or raiment; how much more those that trust in the Lord and whom He loves. Trusting God to get these benefits is found in putting our dependence on Him alone. It is demeaning to claim we trust God and still sneak to other ‘gods’ surreptitiously. God is never pleased with that. He wants us to Himself alone. Whenever Israel went into idolatry by relating with vain gods, they forfeited the benefit of the Lord’s lovingkindness. Like them, those who put their trust elsewhere, will likely get the same treatment.
Are you also in some quagmire of sort because of the roars of an enemy who assumes because of his placement in life, he can brag against you or devour you at will? Be of good cheer. All you need do is come to safety under the shadow of the wings of the Lord, your lover. Not only will He devastate the enemy for you, He will also convert the wealth of the same to you to put an end to your season of toiling. The Lord is about changing your fortune forever by making you an example of the beneficiary of His lovingkindness. You are in for a new and great deal; if only you will trust God absolutely.
SOLUTION: Keep your eyes on the Lord alone. If the three Hebrew boys had shifted focus, they would have been burnt to ashes. Like them, please remain steadfast and immovable, placing your reliance absolutely on the Lord. He has you covered, if you do.
Please pray: My father, my God and my lover, I hide myself in your name and under the shadow of your wings; please keep me safe from the evil snare prepared for me by the enemy, in Jesus’ name. Put an end to the onslaught of the enemy against me and give me total victory today in Jesus’ name. My promoter: do please convert the riches of the enemy to me, that he may know that only you are God and that you do not share your glory with anyone; in Jesus’ mighty name I pray.
