Growing Up Into Christ

Focus: Ephesians 4:15 - KJV

15. But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:

Ephesians 4:7-15

Jesus Christ is the way, the truth and the life: the truth in that there is no lie in Him to lie. And no liar can get to the Father as he belongs to the devil who lied in the beginning and has been banished from the presence of the Father. Hence, the liar is equally to be prevented entry. The believer is however a work in progress. It is expected that as he grows under the pupilage of the Holy Spirit, he starts to gain credence as a truth sayer and thereby begin to resemble Christ the more. It is when we no longer lean unto lies but dwell in the truth to say it, that we are no longer tossed to and fro by the winds of doctrine, like little children. Those given to lies are still susceptible to suppression by the enemy. They that speak the truth in love are like Christ and give the father great pleasure.

At times, it is difficult for some to speak the truth. They will rather stick to what they had affirmed, even when they discover they are wrong, so as not to lose face before men. But then, they end up misleading the people that follow them and draw them farther away from God’s truth but towards impending doom. Simon Peter was a Jew of Jews. He knew so much the Jewish believes and how it is not customary for the Jews to mingle with the Gentiles. Despite having observed Christ ministering to the gentiles when they were together, he still carried in himself the old doctrine of seeing the gentiles as being common and unclean. Then, he had an encounter with God which culminated into his going to minister Christ to the gentiles in the house of Cornelius. When challenged by the Jewish Christians thereafter, he simply narrated the realization of the truth he had after the encounter, and the others could not fault that. The truth shall always prevail.

The Lord is saying to us today that the believer’s life begins with an infant kind of living and operation but is expected to grow to the stature of the fullness of Christ over time. It is not a shame to shift ground from a deceptive view to the truth. We are not to live our lives to please anybody or even a multitude. Once we come to the realization of the truth, we are to speak it to power and put the devil to shame. Or, why do we not hold on to our initial beliefs which we now label as fetish? If we can depart from our original ways which we tag sinful, why can we not depart from those ways which appear true but are not, and promote the truth instead? The position of our God is that we become like Christ in speaking the truth, in love.

SOLUTION: Knowing the truth is meant to set us free; but keeping the truth away from others is wicked in that we fail to allow them access to the freedom we have experienced. Let us always speak the truth in love so that we may be true Christians.

Please pray:

·      Give thanks to God for giving us a role model in our Lord Jesus Christ

·      Ask God to give you the courage to speak the truth in love always, so as to put the devil to shame in the lives of many

·      Pray God to reveal Himself the more to you that you may know Him truly

·      Ask that the gifts that the Lord has bestowed on you for the development of His Church will never lie fallow or become a waste in you

·      Ask for your daily bread today

If you are blessed by this post, kindly share with your contacts, as well as others, that they may be blessed also. Thank you and may God bless you abundantly as you do so, in Jesus’ name.
