15. But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:
Colossians 3:9-14
God made us to be like Himself. Unfortunately, what we have turned out to be is a misrepresentation of His person. He has however revealed to us through Jesus Christ what He looks like and would prefer to have us be formed into. Hence, everyone that must fulfil the will of God must look to Jesus. Everyone loves to be called a Christian who have a faint understanding of the will of God knowing that the term connotes Christ-likeness. Nonetheless, even those who are so referred, are in no wise near the semblance of Christ. To truly be like Him, which of course is a process and not sudden, is to be loving and to stare clear of everything that relates with darkness. The stature of Christ is light and fullness of it: no shadow or spot is identifiable in Him and therefore, if we must be restored to factory setting as intended by God, then we must be exactly like Him.
As a critical factor to becoming like or growing into Christ, Paul advised the Colossians to abstain from lies which is of the old man that is anti-Christ, but to take on the image of Christ whose image knows no discrimination but has everyone combined into one being (Christ) who is full of mercies, kindness, humility of mind, meekness, longsuffering full of forgiveness for his offenders and, most importantly made perfect in love. Those that can achieve this are seen to have grown into Christ because they bear His image and likeness even as He is the image of the Almighty God.
Friends, the Lord is saying to us that He is not minded of the schism we are allowing the enemy to draw us into as members of the body of Christ. All He seeks is that we follow the template He has given us, that we may know Him through His direct image whom He sent to us to show us the way to be with Him and like Him. A refusal to inculcate into ourselves Christ-likeness without pretense or vain matters, is a rejection of God. If we must be accepted of God, then there is need for us to grow into Christ, so that He may also say of us “this is my beloved son, in whom I am well pleased.” That is the commendation that awaits the victors, in the end.
Please pray:
Lord, we thank you for the example you have given us in Christ Jesus, your true image and likeness. I want to be like you also. Please help me to know Christ the more and be more like Him day by day, in the name of Jesus Christ. Let me be acceptable unto you as I start to grow into Christ from today in Jesus’ name. The grace to become perfect in Him, please release unto me, dear Lord, in Jesus’ name.
Please share with others. God bless you.
