Focus: 2 John 1:9 - KJV

9. Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.

John 7:14-18

Welcome to the eighth month of the year where the Lord is affording us another opportunity to have Him and thereby be godly. It is one thing to speak so glowingly about God and the fact that He exists, it is another thing to do have God. Christ presented Himself and was acknowledged by God as the one who dwells in the father and the father in Him; and there was nothing He did or said without the concurrence of the father. Hence, to have the father whom no one has seen except Christ Himself, we must abide in the doctrine of Christ and not transgress it. This is quite difficult for those who operate in traditions and doctrines of the fathers as the one does not fully agree with the other. Combining the two to operate as believers create clearly an oxymoron.

The reason the Jews reject Christ as the Messiah is simply because He disagreed with and taught against many of the doctrines of the fathers. Moses gave the laws in which it is clearly stated ‘thou shall not kill,’ yet they sought to kill Christ and did kill Him. He pointedly asked them why they sought to kill Him despite the law if indeed they trusted Moses’ position, who ironically also gave the instructions about killing. Peter became the head of the believers after the ascension of Christ, but was still confused in many ways in trying to marry the doctrines of Christ with that of the fathers regarding circumcision. He almost denied the Gentile home of Cornelius of salvation if God did not change his understanding concerning the cleanness of His creatures that He receives.

Many claim today to be of Christ but are clearly confused in that they exalt better the doctrines of the fathers than they do that of God. What the Lord is asking us to do is to create a clear separation and stop the diffusion. Putting new wine in old wine skin would cause the skin to burst. If we therefore, will be godly, we have only one way that points unto God. Why then are the fathers’ doctrines in the Bible? It is there to be to us an example how people were made to stray from the knowledge of God to satisfy the enemy; and of course, that we may be able to contrast their ways with the way of Christ and thereby chose life and refuse to be drawn to the old ways by the enemy. Let us therefore, deliberately refuse to be drawn back into the old man, abide only in Christ and have God. Happy New Month, beloved!

Please pray:

Thank you, father for the grace of having a new month to live in. Please Lord, I want more of you: for the more I know you, the more I want to know you. Keep me abiding in Christ and by inference, the father by keeping me locked in the doctrines of Christ alone, in Jesus’ name. The beauty that comes upon those who have you, Lord, let it come upon me afresh that I may glow in your glory and beauty of holiness forever more, in Jesus’ name. Make this the best month I have experienced so far, dear Lord, in Jesus’ name.

Please share with others. God bless you.
