Hear Us O Lord!

Focus: Psalms 55:1 - KJV

1. Give ear to my prayer, O God; and hide not thyself from my supplication.

Job 6:8-11

Many are times when we enter into tribulations and feel that the Lord has removed Himself far away from us, as it appears that He is not listening to our prayers and supplications. We check to see where precisely we went wrong or failed God and we are not able to point to anything that we may have done. Also, we get to the level of almost throwing in the towel regarding our faith in God, thinking He has fully abandoned us. All entreaties and sermons are despised because our situation at the point in time is not fathomable, for a fervent believer. This of course, is not necessarily because the person at the eye of the storm has not prayed but just that it seems God is not near to hear.

Examples abound of those who came before us who also had a similar experience: Job was certified righteous by God Himself but when he entered into tribulation, it appeared he had no relationship with God and cursed the day he was born. Jesus Christ at Gethsemane did not get a response to His hearty request and even on the cross, He exclaimed that He had been forsaken. Elijah got to the level of praying for death when after Jezebel sought his head he was on the run and had no succor. Yet, God is not missing in any of these matters. It is only the anxieties of the human actors that made it seem He distanced Himself. All things work together for good for them that love God who are the called according to His purpose.

If we find things making life seem God has abandoned us, it is really the time to intensify prayers and seek His face for even what to pray about. Unless the Lord directs us to pray rightly, we are likely to be praying amiss. Until God directed Job to pray for his friends, and given some other directions, he remained in limbo. Christ needed to submit to the will of God before the angels came to strengthen Him. Rest assured, in that your situation, God is fully aware and will not be hidden from you as you cry to Him. He will not allow you to be tempted beyond that which you can bear.

SOLUTION: No matter how distanced God seems in your situation; He is very much aware of it all. Draw Him close through praises and never stop praying. You have no alternative to Him, which is why you must not lose hope and persist in the place of prayer.

Father, we cannot afford to be distant from you in any way. Please hear and hearken to our voices in the place of prayer in Jesus’ name. As many as are feeling forsaken at this time, please arise for them today like you did for Israel by choosing for them Moses, in Jesus’ name. Even those that are now in the heat of tribulation, please by your mercy, answer their prayers now and attend to their requests in Jesus’ name.
