Focus: John 5:7-8 - KJV

7. The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me. 8. Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk.

John 5:1-9

In our world today, there are so many that have been clamped down to traditions and are blinded from beholding the wonders of God, as He has purposed it from the foundation of the world. The mind of God is that we be in dominion and not be bound or held down by some uncanny disease, or sickness. But the system of the world as crafted by the prince thereof, has put the focus of man on certain things that are inimical to the mind of God. Meanwhile, Christ came to free us from such strongholds but many still freakout on the traditions that shackle them to the same spot. Those who yield to Christ receive their freedom, without stress.

For thirty-eight years a man had been impotent, immobilized and seeking help by the pool, Bethesda. He lacked help. Incidentally, on a sabbath day, a day that the devil had said no man should lift a finger to do anything including saving a drowning son, Christ came along. The man was not alone in his travails. Christ was with ability to heal them all, like He did at Simon’s house on a fateful day. But only one man was ready to be made whole because he cared not that it was a sabbath. All he wanted was freedom. Others preferred to remain shackled so as not to offend the sabbath. The situation has not changed even now. As Christ is available to all men, many are still shackled with the traditions of the fathers and miss out on the freedom that He brings.

God is saying to us today, why must you perish? He is asking us to renew our minds and focus on Christ, for only He is the way the truth and the life. There is no getting life and it in abundance, anywhere else. What the fathers had taught us in times past had worked only to the extent that the power in the world allowed. Putting the words of Christ to action will expose us to a new day, a new dawn and the best of life and living. The sabbath, for instance is to be kept holy; but it is not forbidden that we show love to the perishing on the sabbath. When we hold on to tradition and close our minds to Christ, we hurt ourselves and not Him. Like He said, the sabbath is made for men and not men for the sabbath. Meaning, traditions are made for us and not the other way round. Overcome it.

Please pray:

Thank you, father for the light in your word that illuminates my way at all times. On this fateful day, please separate between me and inhibitive traditions that are holding me back from fully doing your will. Let my mind be renewed by your word so that I may be the best that you made me to be, in Jesus’ name. Let nothing stop me from attaining the height that you have prepared for me today, in Jesus’ name. Above all, let me never miss out on the day of my deliverance and blessing, dear Lord, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.

Please share with others. God bless you.
