Focus: Psalms 66:18 - KJV
18. If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:
Psalms 24:3-4
Our God is not someone that can be deceived. He searches the heart and not the act. He knows clearly that the heart is the receptacle and source from where an act is conceived and processed before it is unleashed. Hence, when it is still in its formative stage, the Lord sees the thought of man. For instance, there is no record of Eliab’s wrongdoing when the Lord said He did not choose him to be king over Israel. In actual fact there was no better deed of David than that of Eliab or the other brothers known from scripture, before the Lord preferred him to them. It is in the same heart that prayers are formed before they are released to the Lord. So, if a man conceives sin in his heart, how is he able to express through the same heart a holy prayer unto the Lord whose eyes do not behold sin? Wouldn’t the Lord have already seen the state of the heart to separate Himself from it? How then can He hear any such prayer?
David was a man after God’s own heart because, to a great extent, he knew the mind of God. Those who do know the mind of God and fear Him will seek to do His will always. Now, if we know that the Lord is the one who cares for us and preserves us from evil, and we do know that once iniquity is formed in our hearts, we expose ourselves to the danger of separating from God, we will make sure that our hearts be far from sinful thoughts. The problem is that many do not appreciate the extent of danger the Lord preserves them from hence, when it comes to doing things that will keep them in the Lord, they tend to be carefree. But it is written that sufficient for the day is the evil thereof. That simply suggests that we should appreciate God the more for He is always at work keeping us from the evil of the day.
Today, we are to pay more attention to our thoughts so as to prevent them from causing a blockage to our prayers. Allowing thoughts to be formed in our hearts based on things we perceive, can actually make the Spirit of God in us to refuse to support us. Ascending the hills of the Lord speaks about how we are catapulted to the presence of God in the place of prayers. But such catapulting happens only to them that do not allow impure thoughts or put them to action. No wonder, many claim to have prayed over issues and never seemed to get an answer. It is that the impurity of their hearts has prevented them from being catapulted to the presence of God and therefore, the Lord could not hear them. But there are those who need not express prayers in words before they are answered: once they think about it, they get it. No wonder the Lord says before you speak, I will answer. It is because they have pure hearts and allow God in their hearts.
SOLUTION: Eschew impure thoughts completely. Some have been chastened sore by the Lord for their thoughts only. Once you can keep your heart pure, your tongue and speech will be pure as well as your actions. If you can achieve that, you will achieve much in the place of prayer than anyone else.
Please pray:
· Thank God for daily preventing evil from coming near you and hearing your prayers
· Ask God to please cleanse your heart of all impurity by reason of the blood of Jesus so that your prayers may no longer be hindered
· Ask God by His mercy to hear and answer all the prayers you had prayed in the past but were not heard because of the impurity of the heart
· Pray for the grace to keep your heart pure no matter the dats the enemy may throw at it
· Ask for your daily bread today.
