Law Precedes Faith

Focus: Galatians 3:23-24 - KJV

23. But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed. 24. Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

Galatians 3:23-29

The mind of God in choosing Abraham was to create for Himself a nation that will be pivotal to human redemption. He was to teach the nation about Himself so that through it, mankind will get to appreciate the person of God and understand godliness. One of the key points to achieving this was by making available to man, through the chosen nation, eternal laws which will guide the success of man on earth. Incidentally, these eternal laws had been expanded by man to include measures that were never envisaged by God. As it were, these laws, eternal and man’s infusion, have been used to culture man, to an extent, in the direction of godliness albeit imperfectly. Hence, because of the need for perfection which is key to godliness, Christ came and taught us faith, confirming the eternal laws and correcting the excesses of man in the law without condemning the law or anyone at all. If therefore, the initial arrangement was without a fault which was brought about by the incursion of man, there would not have been a need for the new arrangement. The new arrangement was perfected as a new covenant in the blood of Jesus whereby everyone that believes is translated into the family of Abraham and by extension, that of God.

Let nothing confuse you about the two biblical testaments. The old has to be done away with having achieved its purpose in the coming of Christ who is the author of life. Please focus on the faith in Christ Jesus and the finished work that has made us joint heirs with Him. Yes, the law was necessary to give birth to the faith. It was in the law that the coming of the Champion of faith was prophesied and made known. Let not now the law prevent you from the benefit of what it gave birth to, which is the faith in Christ Jesus.

SOLUTION: Have faith in God by putting your faith in Jesus Christ.

God will uphold you in faith through and through in Jesus’ name. He will not allow you to be deceived in the journey to the Kingdom in Jesus’ name. The faith in Christ will keep you above the challenges of the law in the name of Jesus. God bless you from now even unto the very end in Jesus’ name.
