Let God Uphold You

Focus: Psalms 37:16-17 - KJV

16. A little that a righteous man hath is better than the riches of many wicked. 17. For the arms of the wicked shall be broken: but the LORD upholdeth the righteous.

1 Kings 21:1-4

A wicked person is never contented with what he has no matter how sprawling and enormous his wealth might be. He is always looking to harness more. The unfortunate part is that because of the spirit of wickedness in him, he does not look for free things but to take over that which belongs to another. David was in that shoe once when he took the wife of his neighbor and lieutenant. He “got his arms broken by the Lord” for such wickedness. He never recovered from it. He couldn’t build the Lord’s temple. That was someone God Himself said was a person after His heart. He showed “little” wickedness and suffered. But Ahab was a terrible man in wickedness. He was king and had so much and more latitude to grow even bigger if he wanted without annexing the vineyard of poor Naboth. There are yet many Naboths and wickedly Davids in the midst. Even though both the victims of David and Ahab died in the process, they died in righteousness. Although the name of the great Prophet Elijah’s parents did not find relevance in scripture, this duo have their names properly written for God judged them righteous and therefore upholds them. Those who oppressed them were devastated for it.

Whatever you do, never act wickedly to your neighbor. Every wealth you gather through wickedness is a pointer to doom. It is better to acquire wealth only in righteousness and be contented with what you get thereby. For God will breathe on your little and make it much more. But the riches of the wicked stink before God. That is why He goes on to break the arms of the wicked for his wickedness. The Lord is sure to uphold the righteous no matter what. Stand in righteousness that the Lord may uphold you.

SOLUTION: Wickedness pitches one against God. Repent NOW! That is the only antidote to having one’s arms broken. Refuse to engage in wickedness particularly in acquiring resources. Do only what God approves.

The Lord will break the arms of everyone that is sending wickedness your way in the name of Jesus. God will make you sufficient in all things through righteous living in Jesus name. You will never be enticed to the things that will cause you to be separated from the Lord in Jesus’ name. It is well.
