30. And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. 31. Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamor, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: 32. And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.
Isaiah 63:7-14
Our God is a good God, full of lovingkindness and mercy to all that do love Him and obey His commands. His mercies and compassion fail not, from everlasting to everlasting. It is by His Spirit that He supports the believer and leads him to safe havens and good destination. However, His eyes will not behold iniquity. When a believe delves into iniquity away from His prompts, the Spirit can be vexed and thereby get separated. When such happens, it is the one that brings ease in life, protection, guidance and lifting that thus get separated, and the result is never palatable. The Spirit is grieved through a persistent life absent from love but filled with bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor and evil speaking. The Spirit is not able to cling to a vessel full of these, and therefore He departs.
Israel had the prerogative, on record, of being led by the Holy Spirit of God than any other nation. When so led, they defeated their perceived enemies and conquered territories. They had great occurrences happen for them that no other nation can boast of: the Red Sea parted, food dropped like rain from heaven, water gushed from the rock like a spring and so on. But then, from time to time, they went overboard thinking too much of themselves, falling out of love but operating in hate and bitterness, dishonoring God. At such times, they fell prey of their opponents because the Holy Spirit could no longer travel in their midst. Whenever filth was in their camp, they forfeited communion with the Spirit.
The Lord is saying to us today that truly He has sealed us as believers with the Holy Spirit of promise. However, our rejoicing should be in the retention of the Spirit because we are likely to grieve Him and have Him depart if we do not operate in life. The Holy Spirit is peaceful and gentle. He operates like a dove. He dwells on fruit and not the flesh. It is the roaring lion that eats the flesh. Hence, wherever the flesh is found predominantly, the Spirit gives way. When this happens, the lion who is always on a prowl for whom to devour, finds food, since he dwells on the flesh and thereabout comes devastation. Let us escape and avoid the devastation of the enemy by bringing forth only the fruit of the Spirit to retain the Holy Spirit in our members.
Please pray:
Father, I thank you for your Spirit that leads me. Today, I come against everything that is of the flesh that brings a weight upon me and prevents my flight, please expunge them from me by your Spirit, Lord, in the name of Jesus. Let my heart cling only to love all the days of my live therefor, in Jesus’ name. If at any time I make a mistake that may vex your Spirit in me, please help me to reckon quickly and recompense so as not to fall prey of the roaring lion, ever in Jesus’ name. Do take me over completely so that by your Spirit I may fulfill purpose in life, in Jesus’ name.
Please share with others. God bless you.
