Loving The World

Focus: 1 John 2:15-16 - KJV

15. Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

Revelation 3:14-22

The Christian faith appears to have been battered with relativism, which is a thing of deceit from the pit of hell. It is a way of encouraging those who do err to bother not as no one is perfect. What a situation? God made man for a purpose which purpose failed in the garden of Eden. The Lord Jesus Christ came to redirect man to sonship which is found in perfection. Not that when there is a regretted error there will be ostracizing, but the eyes of the Lord do not fancy iniquity at any time. Think about it: a father loves his son and will not want him to die. However, the son must do things that please the father always, to keep the father’s love. When the son is found enmeshed in disobeying and disgracing the father, the tendency is for the father to distance himself from such son so as not to keep getting disgusted by him.

There is no man worth his salt that likes to know his wife’s concubine. The Church is the bride of Christ. It means in a sense that we are God’s wife. There is no way we can claim to love two husbands at the same time. The world is like a concubine. Those who romance the world and claim to be of God are in adultery of sort and are never pleasing to God. When we love the world, we tell God we do not love Him. It is they that love God that take benefit of Him. David loved the Lord and enjoyed peace all around. When he displayed love for the world, he suffered chastisement. God chastises those who momentarily stray from perfection so that they may learn obedience. When the love of the world becomes habitual, then it causes a separation from Him. It is His mind that we choose whom we will serve: God or the world! If we decide to be with Him, then we ought to stick absolutely with Him by obeying what He commands.

The Lord is calling us out of our uncanny romance with the world and worldly affairs under the pretext that since no one is perfect, God will bath an eye concerning it. No! God will not bath an eye. There is consequence for every action. Truly, God forgave David for his Bathsheba mess, but he suffered greatly for it – lost his son, got his family in disarray by the sword, had his son lay with his concubine on the rooftop in the full glare of the public. It is clear that no one in his right mind wants to suffer the kind of devastation a romance with the world brings. Hence, it is the Lord’s instruction that we stay away from the world if we must remain His. Loving God is sticking tight to Him and obeying His commands. A thought of just caressing the world a bit is a no, no! It can only bring devastation to the one found in such whoredom.

SOLUTION: Let us stay where the Lord has kept us and stop gallivanting with the world. It is not true that we can be relatively godly and relatively worldly. It does not work. It nauseates our God and He is not able to contain such. Stay away from the world, completely.

Please pray:

·      Thank God for loving you and making you a part of His Church, the bride of Christ

·      Declare your love for God unto Him and tell Him you will rather never love the world

·      Ask the Lord by His Spirit to constantly keep you in check whenever you are being lured to love the world

·      Ask God to give you constant victory over the flesh at all times

·      Ask for your daily bread for today

If you are blessed by this post, kindly share with your contacts, as well as others, that they may be blessed also. Thank you and may God bless you abundantly as you do so, in Jesus’ name.
