Make Your Request Plain

ree

Focus: Luke 18:41 - KJV

41. Saying, What wilt thou that I shall do unto thee? And he said, Lord, that I may receive my sight.

Mark 10:36-41

It is often said that a closed mouth is a closed destiny. That, because many refuse to open their mouths to ask what they desire in the place of prayers. It is true that God hears the thoughts of our hearts and can grant such requests just like He granted the mumbling Hannah her request. Nonetheless, unless a man makes his request plain unto God, he may miss out on the blessing he desires, thinking the Lord should know and ought to do it. Even if we set out our demands plainly, we may not receive what we ask except it meets the will of God. Asking things that God does not support will be a futile request, any day.

Christ saw that Bartimaeus was blind, yet He asked him to be explicit about his request. Had the blind man not make his request plain, he may not have had his sight restored. At another time, Christ asked James and John what they would have Him do for them and they requested, albeit selfishly, to sit one on His right and the other on the left. However, those positions were clearly the prerogative of the father to decide. Hence, they got no firm answer as to whether they would have it or not.

Many are times we approach the Lord in prayers as believers without making known what we desire. In the end, we end up querying why God did not do it. But do what? The Lord is making it clear to us that He is Sovereign and therefore does as He pleases. If, however, we need Him to act in our behalf, we need to ensure we set out what we require properly, assuming nothing. Everyone that asks correctly receives. God is still willing, ready and able to give to them that ask Him, explicitly what meets with His will.

Let us pray:

The Lord will meet you at the point of your needs and answer your prayers even as you ask from now on, in Jesus’ name. No devil will obstruct the angel bringing the answers to your prayers again in Jesus’ name. If there be any obstruction, the Lord will send His angels to uproot them for your sake in Jesus’ name. The Lord will make your joy full from today, in Jesus’ name.

Please share with others. God bless you.
