Focus: John 15:1-2 - KJV
1. I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. 2. Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.
Jeremiah 2:20-21
When God made us, He meant to see His reflection in us like in a mirror. The more we delve into sin or iniquity, the farther we are from that position. Indeed, the sinner appears like a mockery of the personality of God. It is like looking into a wobbled mirror and beholding some ugliness in a naturally pretty being. Hence, by the redemption work of Christ, it is the mind of God to have us reinstated to that original plan. So that, the redemptive work is the planting which produces us as branches. As we make good progress towards producing Christ-like virtues, we are said to be bearing fruit. To assist us in bearing more fruit towards being a perfect reflection of God, those things that hinder our perfection are purged so that more and more we can look like our God by the fruit we bear.
Incidentally, some are branches by the redemption work but to them, all that is material is being branches. The essence of becoming branches is lost on them. Where a branch fails to bring forth fruit, it is not different from the image in the wobbled mirror in the sight of God. And for all intents and purposes, it is a great insult for God to be so reflected unto Himself. Therefore, to forestall further insult from the wobbled mirror, it is shattered and removed to the waste bin. So, as many as refuse to work on themselves to bear the fruit of the Spirit towards becoming like Christ, are considered a waste of redemptive effort and cut off from the body. They actually aggravate the Lord with their being.
The Lord is enjoining us to stop cumbering the land for nothing. If we claim to be believers and followers of Christ, then we ought to emulate the one whom we believe and start to show forth His attributes in our daily living. By doing this, we start to reflect the image of our creator which was why He made us in the beginning. Doing otherwise is an invitation to an unintended and undesirable doom.
SOLUTION: Bring forth fruit henceforth that is worthy of repentance and keep bringing forth more fruit by making sure to work on the dark sides so that they never feature in you again.
Please pray:
· Father, thank you for making me a part of your vineyard and a branch of your vine
· Lord, please help me to become a fruit bearing branch in you so that I may not be a castaway
· Daddy, I want to be more like you, please take away all those things in me, that are preventing my complexion to be like yours exactly, in the name of Jesus
· My God and my father, even as I start to bring forth good fruit, please preserve me so that my fruit will never rot, in Jesus’ name
· Please itemize your personal requests for the day for the father to treat.
