No Peace For The Wicked

Focus: Isaiah 57:21 - KJV

21. There is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked.

Isaiah 57:20-21

As righteousness is real and has its gains, so is wickedness with its repercussions. Those who are righteous are held up by the Lord for just treatment while the wicked are, unfortunately, troubled because of their deeds. No wonder the wicked runs about when no one pursues. When the righteous enjoys the peace like a river from God, the wicked lacks peace and operates like one in murky waters. There is absolutely no gain in wickedness even though the wicked seems to derive some joy in hurting and messing up the life of another. They are never life givers but stealers of joy.

King Saul was a wicked man. Innocent David had just rescued his neck from Goliath’s sword. Rather than give him the price for which he volunteered to fight, Saul offered David death instead. Despite all the wickedness of Saul towards David, the latter was unperturbed to return to battle for the sake of gaining his price – the hands of the princess in marriage. The king in his wickedness already lost his peace by becoming insane. It was worsened in that he could no longer sleep any time he remembered that David was alive and may ascend the throne someday. He went in pursuit of one who was not pursuing him till he became vulnerable in doing so. Even in the course of one of such pursuits, he received news of trouble again which drew him to the final battle of his life.

Why would we find joy in hurting a fellow being, particularly those of the same household of faith as ourselves? The Lord is issuing a fresh note of warning to all wicked doers or those who would be wicked: there is no peace for those who engage in wickedness. Some do wickedly to get rich, others to attain a position or height, others just for the fun of it. At the end of the day, they do not find good life to enjoy the wealth or height they have so attained. So then, what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his (peace) life? Let us be intentional to do good always especially to members of the household of faith.

Please pray:

Father, I thank you for locating me in your good deeds. Do not let me ever stray unto wickedness all through my life, in Jesus’ name. Let your peace that passes all understanding, always rest with me, dear Lord, in Jesus’ name. In any area of my life, where peace has been elusive before now, please let your peace be restored fully right now, in Jesus’ name. Please rebuke the devil and his ill wind over my life from today, so that I may breathe the air of abundant peace, in Jesus’ name.

Please share with others. God bless you.
