Key verse: Isaiah 41:10 - KJV
10. Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
Joshua 1:1-9
One thing about God is that when He determines to do a thing, nothing can stop Him from achieving His desire. It does not matter what the circumstances prevailing may be; only the will of God shall stand in the end. Isaac, it will appear, had no real encounter with God as a person, prior to the famine that confronted the land of Canaan when he sought to flee to Egypt. But he must have heard his father constantly speaking about hearing from God. Hence, when God spoke and told him not to go to Egypt, it definitely would have been a mixed feeling but it was easier to settle for the voice because of what he heard his father say in the past. So, though the famine bit real hard, as Isaac believed God for His word, he prospered in the midst of famine. Joshua, like Isaac, had heard Moses, his master speak about God speaking and instructing him. In Joshua’s case, it was more difficult to believe when God spoke. As far as he knew, Moses must have received something tangible from God that made him able to do all the things he did. Nonetheless, the Lord assured him to be of courage and that like He was with Moses He would be with him.
If we will also believe God for His word, we have no reason to panic. Others in our locality may be undergoing negativity, for as long as we stick with the promise of God, like Isaac, we shall surely succeed. There may be terrifying giants in our ways and occupying the place we are promised already, but like Joshua, if we believe God for His word, we will surely take over the promised land. Our confidence is borne not on our abilities but on the strength and help of our God. We cannot however expect considerable success if we act against His dictates. It is akin to an army General mapping out a route to take to overcome kidnap and insurgency having secured the terrain, and we decide not to follow the same route. Failure in such circumstance cannot be blamed on the General. God wants us also to stay tenaciously on His word without veering either to the right or the left. When we do so, we are assured huge success.
Are you facing huge opposition despite the promises of God concerning your life journeys? Stay on course; don’t deviate from the promise. Though it appears difficult and almost impossible, God will achieve is promise for you. No shaking!
Pray: Father, I believe your word: please keep me in line of your promise so that I may attain the same to the chagrin of the enemy in Jesus name.
