Our Father, Our God

Focus: John 20:17 - KJV

17. Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.

John 17:10-21

The world is full of contention as to whether or not God has any child. The current most scientific way of determining paternity is through the gene of the parties involved. More often than not, there is no maternity but paternity dispute. God is not man that we can be asking for body sample for testing purposes. But from empirical facts we can show and prove if truly, God has offspring or not. There is no disputing the fact that the Spirit of God is not different from God Himself. Hence, anything done by or with the Spirit, is done of God. When He was to begin the reformation of the earth to bring it out of its shamble state, He did so by His Spirit. Therefore, where the Spirit is responsible for bringing something or someone forth, it is safe to conclude that it is the act of God.

When God formed man from the dust of the earth, he breathed Himself into his nostrils and the man became a living soul. That which He breathed into man was His Spirit. The man that was a living soul was born of the Spirit and therefore was a son of God, the first Adam. That Adam caused a separation between himself and God through sin. By that he lost affinity with the father by losing the Spirit. God then brought His purpose to bear by incubating a woman through His Spirit and brought forth a Son. Hence, He was called the only begotten. The first Adam was born through formation while the second was begotten as a seed of the woman. He was a product of the Holy Spirit who is God. By this act and His sacrifice that followed, the same Spirit was made available to man again. As many as receive Him, become born again as they become born of water and the SPIRIT.

Hence, everyone that is born of the Spirit is born of God and therefore God is not only their God but also their father. The believer is therefore, properly positioned to have God as both God and father as he is not just born of flesh and blood but through the order of Christ, by water (through water baptism), and the Spirit through the Holy Ghost baptism. It is therefore, foolhardy to ascribe to someone who is born of God what is called ancestral curses. They have become curse causeless in that the personality concerned is born again and now carry the gene of God his father, and not that of his possibly accursed earthly father. Only those who are not truly born of the Spirit need be concerned about ancestral curses. If God be our father, He is our ancestor and therefore not accursed.
