Text: John 8:51
Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death.
Read: John 6:43-51
When God created man, He put man in a garden and heaven was not so distant from earth as God communed with man with ease. But man fell allowing hell on earth and got heaven withdrawn. In the separation, the tree of life was taken away from the reach of man since the wages of sin is death. That tree of life from which man was separated has now been brought to man in Jesus Christ, the Savior of mankind. But how do you access this tree of life?
You must of compulsion abide in Christ and let His word abide in you. In our reading today, He says you must eat Him to have life. He is the Word of God. He is the one you need inside of you to have life. Christ in you is the hope of glory. He gets into you in two manners: taking the Holy Communion worthily by faith; and studying the Word to show yourself approved of God.
When you study the Word and meditate on it, you carry the word in you and in the course of life, you draw from the wealth of that which you already ingested. No wonder the Lord says if you keep His saying, you shall never see death. This is a great revelation. Do you really want to overcome death? Then you have the answer in the Word of God. Make it a project from today to imbibe the word of God by studying and meditating on the Word. Please ensure you act on the knowledge acquired.
Every time you want to do something not approved by the word, the word in you brings you to the realization. Yet you decide against the word. Every time you do so, you are moving farther away from life. Anyone that moves away from life embraces death. God has restored to us the tree of life in Christ Jesus. There is nothing that ought to debar us any more from having life and life in its abundance. It is our lack of knowledge and more often, refusal to embrace wisdom that pushes us farther from life.
Make up your mind today as the year is running to an end. Embrace life and you will never see death.
Pray: Father, thank you for restoring to us the tree of life in our Lord Jesus Christ: please feed me the more from that tree that I may have life and life more abundantly never to see death in Jesus name.
