Text: Psalms 29:11
The Lord will give strength unto his people; the Lord will bless his people with peace.
Bible Reading:
Exodus 12:12-13
Message:
Peace is the absence of calamity or trouble or war. To live in peace is to live devoid of apprehension. Jesus is the Prince of peace. He has given to His own, not everybody, peace. And in giving that, He made a distinction between that which He gives and what the world gives. There is a form of peace that the world gives which is fraught with deceit. Some spend money to hire guards to enable them have peace in their sleep. Often times, such people are not able to sleep or the guards themselves sleep when it is most critical thereby exposing them to the danger they dread. With the peace Christ has given, we are able to draw great strength in that we have confidence in Him that whatever He promises to do, He is able to bring to bear. That is why when there is turmoil anywhere, you will observe that those who are truly of Christ are never perturbed. When calamity befell Egypt, God’s people was left in their peace not because they had seen such happen before but because they knew the one who had promised. But they did something which others in Egypt did not do. They heard the instruction of God and put it to action. They did not disbelieve the instruction or treat it with levity as the people of this age are wont to do. God is also inviting you to get His instruction and hearken unto it so that your peace may be guaranteed and you may be strengthened therein. The assurance of peace from the Lord is a great source of strength. No wonder David said, even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil. Great strength he exhibited. What is the source of your fear? Hold on to God; get His instruction and obey them and your peace is assured.
Prayer:
Father, grant me peace like a river that I may operate in your strength for the rest of my earthly life in the name of Jesus.
