Focus: Jeremiah 48:11 - KJV
11. Moab hath been at ease from his youth, and he hath settled on his lees, and hath not been emptied from vessel to vessel, neither hath he gone into captivity: therefore his taste remained in him, and his scent is not changed.
Jeremiah 48:11-15
There are many who had raised themselves in enmity to the believer. They appear to be doing well without coming to hurt in any way or form, and to the ordinary observer, like Job’s friends, they are so because they are “righteous”. It is truly written that it is woe unto the wicked for it shall be ill with him. His ill may not come suddenly because our God is a longsuffering God and may have been shielding the wicked just so that he may come to repentance and be ransomed. But when the wicked fails to change their ways, the Lord surrenders them to their father, the devil, who eventually deals with them devastatingly.
Saul of Tarsus had the backing of the High Priest and Council of the Jews to persecute the Church of Christ with a view to forcing them into extinction. While he was at it, he was applauded by the High Priest and the Council not knowing that down the line he was going to be arrested, put in chains, tortured, tormented and have death oath dangling over his head at the instance of the same Council and the High Priest. The things he caused the Church to pass through, he was also taken through in the end.
The Lord is saying to us today that when evil lingers and the purveyor appears not to be getting any repercussion, it is not to say that repercussions will not come but are delayed till the future. We are to therefore, abstain completely from evil works so that we don’t keep piling evil on our heads for the future. For when the repercussion would come it may be more devastating for those it will affect, when it happens. Let us therefore, be careful what we do, so that we do not regret in the end.
Please pray:
Father, I thank you for opening my eyes to knowing you and being on your side. In all my life, let me never be against you or your purpose in the life of anyone, in Jesus’ name. In every way that I may have erred in times past, kindly forgive and show me mercy, in the name of Jesus. Let me enjoy the fruit of the labor of righteousness all through my years, in Jesus’ name. Let not my life or that of my generations be dotted with evil, in Jesus’ name.
Please share with others. God bless you.
