Renew Your Mind

Focus: Ephesians 4:23-24 - KJV

23. And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; 24. And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

Romans 12:1-2

When a being is used to a particular style in life, even when the lifestyle becomes obsolete, the tendency is for him to continue in the old way he is used to, missing out on the fruits of the new trend. When a ram is used to being tied down to be fed, even when the rope is taken off its neck, the tendency is for it to remain in the same spot awaiting its food, whereas there is a greater latitude for it to go and feed. This is the situation of many who are yet to appreciate and aggregate to themselves the beauty of the grace that the Lord has given unto mankind through the death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ; and some others who, though profess it but, are living in accordance with their old ways, having been so stuck with that way in their minds. For us to take full benefit of Christ, we ought to truly renew our minds and stop being stuck in our old ways. We must let old things truly pass away and let our minds imbibe fully the new we are brought into.

In the order of things, as obtained from the Mosaic traditions and the prophets, it was a good thing to kill an offender of the law either by stoning or what have you. Upon the sacrifice of Christ, we are to judge not so we may not be judged, and also forgive for as long as we have breath. But Peter was not so renewed in his mind immediately he began to operate as the head of the Church, when Christ ascended. He was quick to invoke the Consuming Fire anointing to destroy Ananias and Sapphira, who were mere beginners in faith, so to speak. He forgot that he was called into the ministry of reconciliation which is meant to offer sinners life and life more abundantly. Did the couple do a right thing? Not so. But it is not in the place of the Shepherd to kill the sheep for making a mistake, or straying. It is his place to draw them back into the fold. If Peter’s mind was as renewed as it eventually became, such error would never have been.

The Lord is calling us to live in accordance with the new life we have received in Christ and stop being conformed to the old ways of the old evil man. We were birds held in cages, but Christ has opened the cage for us to be released and enjoy the grace to soar and soar indeed. Unless we renew our minds and break ourselves out of the fear of falling, which is what holds the free bird bound, we may not have the opportunity to soar and enjoy the benefit of the grace we have received. Freedom is sweet. But the sweetness is not realized or benefitted from by the bird which remains bound in its mind. We are made manly eagles so that we may fly high and even soar in the midst of storms. Unless we renew our minds and ascribe to ourselves the benefits of the kingdom, how do we begin to soar as intended by our Lord? The time to rise is now. Let your mind be renewed in that matter.

SOLUTION: Stop assuming that your situation remains impossible. Take your mind off the negative and start assuming the possible thoughts. The latitude for the believer to rise is large. Stop being conscripted to the old ways. Take up the gauntlet to resume the new life by renewing your mind today. Live holy in all things.

Please pray:

Father, I thank you for the grace of a new life. Please help me to appreciate the extent and the depth of the provisions embedded in the new life that I may not lose out in the matter of life. Take me to the height in you, where my mind is completely renewed, so that my faith in you may never waiver. Let me from this day begin to soar with wings like the eagle to the glory of your name. Do not let me remain captured in my mind, despite your freeing me from the bondage of the evil one. Please break the snare completely, including the one in my mind, so that I may be established in your will and provision for my life, in Jesus’ name.

If you are blessed by this post, kindly share with your contacts, as well as others, that they may be blessed also. Thank you and may God bless you abundantly as you do so, in Jesus’ name
