Focus: Colossians 3:23-25 - KJV
23. And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; 24. Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ. 25. But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons.
Ephesians 6:5-9
A lot of people are given to eye service in all they do, not minding God in the process. Some even enroll in church as workers with allegiance to some human, notwithstanding the stipulates of scripture. It may be better to say many of such people do not know what the scriptures say. Of the people that they show allegiance, some go to the extent of creating fear in the said followers and workers, threatening that non-allegiance would cause doom. As they do not really know their God, the affected workers become snared and held down, unfortunately, because their minds have been enslaved. This situation gives rise to rebellion against the church when some discover the seeming spell from the supposed leaders over the innocent workers, making them to be wary about doing anything for or with the church. All this because of making people work as unto man.
The counsel of the Lord is however different. The Lord knows and did assert that no man is good except God Himself. He said this so that we do not put our focus on the natural man. For all intents and purposes, every man of God is first a man and susceptible to the vagaries of men. As only the Lord cannot be bribed or fall into error, we are enjoined to let all our doings be unto the Lord who is able to reward us without fear or undue favor. Refusing to bring your tithe into the store house, and failure to give towards the growth of the Church, are some of the things that have been affected by the activities of spiritual leaders who had consumed Church income to their own lusts, in the past. The Lord however, will not because of the misbehavior of the priest(s) absolve those that deprive His house of meat. The core principle of God regarding this is “the misbehavior of any man of God, does not diminish the stature of God.”
Beloved, if we will be focused on God in all that we do, we will not be dissuaded by the acts of mere men. God knows the underlying reasons for all actions, and rewards every act that we do. It is another children’s day; and the Lord admonishes us to receive the Kingdom like little children. To the child, relationship is a hearty affair. In our relationship with God, let us heartily also, do things, focusing on the one whom we love. He countenances our hearts in all we do. Despite all the doings of Saul against David, the latter focused on God in his doings, not countenancing the misbehavior of the king. For some others, their first thought would be “where was God when Saul was doing all these?” As Saul’s faults were not God’s fault, David heartily did things as unto the Lord. Let us also do the same and receive our rewards, of the Lord.
SOLUTION: All things must be done with God, and not any man, in focus, no matter the sagacity of the man. Doing things as unto God is keeping focus on the things that are good and justifiable; doing things that are loving. Do not because of the misbehavior of a man stop to offer love to him by assisting him, where you can. Do it as unto God.
Please pray: Dear Lord, your injunctions are just and aimed at making us righteous. Please help me to keep focus on you in my deeds that I may never be dissuaded by the misdeeds of my neighbors, from now on, in Jesus’ name. Do keep me in your love forever that I may never miss any of my rewards in Jesus’ name.
Kindly share with others if you have been blessed by this Guide. God bless you as you do so, in Jesus' name.
