Serve Your Generation

Focus: Acts 13:36a – KJV

36. For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell on sleep, ….

2 Samuel 7:8-12

Although David came to the earth and lived therein before the advent of Christ, God had purposed it from the foundation of the earth that the Messiah shall come from the tribe of Judah and the loins of David. No wonder he told Samuel to stop interceding for Saul when the latter misbehaved. Hence, even though the death of the saints, particularly those who came from the time of Christ, was described as falling asleep, the same metaphor was used by the Bible in the case of David. Why? Because God loved him and was sure to raise him up in the end as expected of every saint. More importantly, the testimony of David was that he served his generation and anyone in that light of service to humanity has rendered service to God; for whatever we do to any of His people, we do unto our God.

It is Christmas day, when the entire world is commemorating the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ into the world, for the ransom of men. But why is the entire world so particular about remembering Him? David served his own generation but Jesus Christ’s service was to mankind of all generations. His finished works on the cross afforded the righteous dead, that came before him, salvation even as those who got born again by His tenets, sacrifice and love. For His service to be complete, He was not made to see corruption like the other dead. Even though others are said to have slept, He is neither dead nor asleep for He is alive. He is alive because even though He died and was buried, He came off the tomb and arose from the dead without His body seeing corruption, having served the Father correctly, by serving the generations of men. If only we also will be careful to serve God by serving our generations rather than living like emperors over men. Felis Navidad!

May the joy of the Lord be multiplied unto each and every one of us on this day of the Lord in which men commemorate the birth of the Savior, in Jesus’ name. May the name of the Lord work wonders in our lives from this very day in Jesus’ name. May God Hand over to each of us the special blessings for Christmas that will make the next one year a time to remember forever for good in Jesus’ name. May this Christmas bring us all joy unspeakable just like the birth of Christ brought joy to the world in Jesus’ name.

SOLUTION: The life of man does not consist of food, drink, pleasure or the likes, but how it impacts the lives of others. Let us, like Christ, release ourselves to serve others that our world may become a better place to live in. Merry Christmas beloved.

If you are blessed by this post, kindly share with your contacts, as well as others, that they may be blessed also. Thank you and may God bless you abundantly as you do so, in Jesus’ name.
