Spiritual Discernment

Key verse: 1 Corinthians 2:16 - KJV

16. For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.

1 Corinthians 2:10-16

Today’s guide is something critical to our being Believers in truth. Scriptures are inspired by God. Those inspired are no more. Yet we must find the truth in the scripture as not everything that is relevant is written as there wouldn’t be space to contain the writings. Hence, there is a need for the discovery of the depth of the mind of God. No wonder Christ said to us that the Holy Spirit will teach us all things and bring to our remembrance those things which He taught us. All things will allude to even those things which the Lord could not teach us within the short spate of His ministry on earth. Unfortunately, for centuries untold, many have interpreted scriptures the way they deemed necessary and handed such interpretations to generations after them, which interpretations do not represent God because they are not Holy Spirit inspired. Some have had to go to seminaries and theological colleges to learn the scripture, which ordinarily is not bad for guidance. But the tendency is to imbibe doctrines of men which are not easily expungable.

There are teachings today that encourage destruction in the name of the Lord. That cannot be the Holy Spirit when the Master already taught us to love our enemies and pray for them that despitefully use us. He also committed to us the ministry of reconciliation. There are yet others who, twisting the message of Paul, say because of grace, the law written in stone has been discarded as it is because of it that there is sin. If we are to believe them, what stone written law brought Adam to sin in the garden? The tablet of stone was received by Moses. They philosophize between Sinai and Zion contrasting the two based on the law and make Sinai the place of death and Zion the place of life and through such doctrines cause many to go to their waterloo. When the truth is, though written in stone that it may be taught the children of Israel and by extension the entire world, those laws are eternal. The expatiation of it with the six hundred and thirteen by Moses was faulty in that it was not fully Holy Spirit inspired and Christ said so. Yes, Christ regrouped the laws into two but abolished none. Thou shall not commit adultery is a law of loving thy neighbor as thyself as are many others. Can any of these preachers, if not already completely taken over by Lucifer, truly stand by and allow another man take hold of their spouses in adultery rejoicing since grace covers it? If sin has been so abolished as they claim, why did Paul say “shall we continue in sin and ask grace to abound? God forbid”?

It is the Holy Spirit that understands the deep things of God and He is the authentic teacher of the truth. When Paul spoke about the letter killing and the spirit giving life, he was basically talking about the letters of the law which Moses interpreted and which he learned to become a Professor in, yet persecuting the Author of life whom he should be serving.

If we must be true believers, we need to hold on to Christ, erase all that we learnt from others and meditatively ask the Holy Spirit to teach us scripture bringing out the deep things of God in it as we study and meditate therein. Begin today and you will see the light brighter and better than your teachers.

Pray: Father, please teach me your secrets by your Spirit that I may be approved of you in the name of Jesus Christ.
