Focus: Hebrews 6:19-20 - KJV
19. Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil; 20. Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an high priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.
Hebrews 6:13-20
Man was created a living soul. He however ran foul of the law of sin and death whereby the soul that sins shall die. In the days of the Levitical priests, when Israel assumed sin could be atoned by the blood of animals, the priests, some of whom themselves were sinners, were entrusted with interceding for the sinner to preserve his soul from death, by going into the Holy of holies which was behind the veil in the temple. But God had a better plan for preserving the souls of men from destruction. He gave us Christ as a High Priest in the order of Melchizedek, who had no beginning or ending, to intercede on our behalf and to go ahead of us into the Holy of holies with a promise to have us there, after our pilgrimage on earth as believers. The one who gave us this hope of having our souls preserved is the one who can never lie. When He had no one above Him to swear by, He swore by Himself unto Abraham and brought it to bear. He has promised all believers by Himself that their souls would live with Him in eternity. To be a believer is not just to profess Christ by mouth. It starts from a conviction in the heart out of which proceeds the issues of life. If there is a belief in the heart and confession is made with the mouth, then the heart will lead the person to practice kingdom affairs while on earth by bringing forth the fruit of the Spirit. Those are the believers to whom God has given the hope of glory.
Beloved, Jesus loves you and does not want your soul to perish. Your attending church and doing a myriad of things there, is not proof of your being a believer that entitles you to this hope. Your entitlement is based on whether Christ can assert that you are one of His. Incidentally, the test of being His is simply located in love. We emphasize love just like He did. It encapsulates everything about the law and the prophets. God is love. Anyone who succeeds the test of love is of God and it is to such that the hope is given. You cannot continue to maltreat your fellow and assume you are a believer. God is not mocked. The gate is not closed. If you will genuinely repent, your name too shall be written among those promised eternal life.
SOLUTION: Church activity is not enough to ransom the soul. Repent of all evil and ask God to separate between you and darkness by the blood of Jesus Christ. Make Him the Lord of your life and Savior of your soul. Determine to live by Him from now on, never to return to darkness again.
Father, your love has attracted us to you. Please keep us in your love forever in Jesus’ name. By your loving kindness, help us to reign with you in the Holy of holies where you have gone to prepare a place for us in Jesus’ name. Please preserve our souls from death and destruction in the name of Jesus. Whatever we do, please do not let us fall short of your glory in Jesus’ name.
