The Chosen Few

ree

Focus: Matthew 22:12-14 - KJV

12. And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless. 13. Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. 14. For many are called, but few are chosen.

Revelation 17:14

The thoughts of God towards every man are of good and not of evil, that he may come to an expected end. In essence, God wants that every man possible, should enter into and be a partaker of His Kingdom. But many are really deceived by the enemy to be ill-prepared for the Kingdom. Some refuse to have raiment befitting a guest of the King of kings and Lord of lords; others do not have enough oil to sustain their light and therefore, are darkness prone when they ought to meet with the Light Himself. Hence, although many are called to be guest of the Maker in His Kingdom, not everyone called will eventually be chosen to be part of the final guest list. The list of invitees is enormous, but the final guest list is pruned and made subject to godly qualities.

The mind of Christ is to present to the father a Church that is without spot or wrinkle, knowing that God is holy and will not tolerate unholiness in any form. To drive this home, He told us about the ten virgins and spared not the virgins that were foolish. They were cast into outer darkness despite being virgins. He also told the parable of the wedding feast. Even though it was the King that flung His doors open to all and sundry, like Christ threw open the gates of the Kingdom unto both Jews and Gentiles alike, when the king spotted in the crowd someone not wearing the garment befitting his guest, he challenged the same and had him cast into outer darkness. Same is the way it will be in the end when the Kingdom comes. Only the chosen shall be retained, not necessarily the called.

The Lord is reminding us that we need always to work out our salvation with fear and trembling. There will be many who, though seen by the world as Christians, will be shut out of the Kingdom in the end, not because they were neither baptized nor speak in tongues, but because they lack the garment of righteousness and therefore unfit for the Kingdom. Even Christ says they will on that day call Him Lord and He would deny knowing them since they are workers of iniquity. Let us be mindful of the fact that no worker of iniquity will be allowed to make the final guest list for the Lord’s wedding feast. Let us repent while there is still time.

Please pray:

Lord, I thank you for making me a part of the invitees to your Kingdom. I do not want just to be invited but also chosen to dine with you. Please therefore, help me to remain sanctified in you and keep my garment free of filth, and never to acquire spot or wrinkle, in Jesus’ name. I submit myself unto you for cleansing today, whatever I bear that causes spot or wrinkle to my garment of righteousness, please flush it off me, in Jesus’ name. Let me reign forever with you, dear Lord, in Jesus’ name.

Please share with others. God bless you.
