The Chosen Few

Focus: Matthew 22:14 - KJV

14. For many are called, but few are chosen.

Judges 7:1-7

Life on earth is like a training field. Everyone is called to the field to train against the race (the heat, if you like) that will lead to the final tournament. Not everyone called to the training will eventually make it to the final competition. Some are fearful and cannot be completely pleasing unto God, hence they are not part of His choice. Others still possess the habits of the dog. Since outside are the dogs, they cannot be taken for the huge task. Only those who are temperate in all things and are able to endure hardship to the end: not murmuring or grumbling in any manner or fashion, can fulfil the Lord’s mandate. Incidentally, it is the Lord that choses them Himself, from the foundation of he earth, and not themselves.

God gave us a fore sample of His manner of choosing. Gideon, otherwise called Jerubbaal, was to lead Israel to war at the time of the Judges. Once the intention to go to war was made known, many men who seemed qualified, stepped forward to go to battle. But, although they were all called, God was not content to take them all to battle. He therefore, guided Gideon to set apart the fearful and those who knelt and lapped water with their tongues like dogs. In the end, He had choice three hundred men for Gideon for the battle at hand. Even in this dispensation, although He has asked that all that labor and are heavy ladened should come to Him, yet of them, He chooses only a few for His use. Christ had a crowd thronging Him before choosing only twelve of them as His Apostles.

The Lord is saying to us that it is not everyone that calls Him Lord, Lord, that is fit for Armageddon. That battle is no child’s play and therefore, those who cannot do away with even the little foxes are not fit for the battle for such foxes would cause casualties in the army of the Lord. Beloved, if we must be chosen of the Lord, then we are to begin right now to make ourselves fit for the battle, shunning all that is of the flesh and imbibing fully the Holy Spirit of light through whom we are equipped, and fortified for the battle ahead. Incidentally, the chosen are tested in battles from the earth and they are only chosen based on the way they are able to wriggle out here on earth, from the fierce battles with the kingdom of darkness.

Please pray:

Father, I thank you for calling me out of darkness into your marvelous light. I present myself in training here on earth, please fortify and equip me that I may be toughened enough for your approval and choice, to be a part of your army, in Jesus’ name. Please never let me be like the dogs or the fearful, O Lord, in Jesus’ name. Even now, every battle confronting my person and, or family, please give me the fortitude to overcome by your Spirit, in Jesus’ name.
