The Ever-Satisfying Bread

Focus: John 6:35 – KJV - 35. And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.

Jesus is the ultimate source of spiritual nourishment and satisfaction. Just as physical bread sustains our biological bodies, Jesus is the essential Bread of Life who satisfies the deep, chronic hunger of the human soul. He promises that anyone who abandons their search for fulfillment in material things and instead puts their absolute trust in Him will find an internal contentment that completely eliminates spiritual hunger and thirst forever.

The Samaritan woman by the well of Jacob in John’s epistle, spent years trying to fill a deep emotional and spiritual void. She had been married five times, and the man she was currently living with was not her husband. She was a societal outcast. Her lifestyle was a walking picture of spiritual dehydration. Jesus met her at the well and deliberately exposed her empty pursuits. He told her, whosoever drinks of the water that He gives shall never thirst. The moment she recognized Jesus as the Messiah, her spiritual thirst vanished. She was so completely satisfied by the Bread of Life that she literally left her physical waterpot behind, ran back into the city, and boldly declared to the entire community: "Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?" She went from a hiding outcast to a courageous missionary because Jesus had completely filled her empty soul.

Are you tired, weary or in any form of despair? Today, the Bread of Life is beckoning on you to eat and drink of Him so that your nagging spiritual hunger and thirst may be satisfied forever. All He requires of you is to come unto Him so that He may give you His rest. Human help or succor does not satisfy. The Bread of Life surely satisfies and offers Himself to you without you having to pay any special price. That situation can come to an end today, just like it did for the Samaritan woman, if you will give recognition to Christ and submit the burden to Him.

Prayer:

Daddy, you are my burden bearer and you have so been for a long time. Thank you for always being there for me and feeding me in a way that I do not hunger or thirst in despair anymore. Please continue to hold me up with your righteous right hand, and feed me the more with your flesh, the Brad of life, so that I may be forever sustained in you, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Please share. God bless you.
