The Living Stone

Focus: 1 Peter 2:4 - KJV

4. To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious,

1 Peter 2:4-8

In ordinary parlance, a stone is inanimate and therefore, of no potency as it does not see, eat, breath or talk. Nonetheless, when the stone gets into the hands of someone who has life in him, it can be turned into so much asset that may give it “life” in a manner of speaking. A sculptor can make a great piece of art from stone that will marvel the observer. After the Lord had anointed David and thereby imbued him with power, his hands picked up smooth stones that were ordinarily inanimate, from the river. Upon touching the stones, he took one and sent it to the head of Goliath, a fierce enemy. The stone came alive and delivered David’s message to the effect that Goliath’s skull got a devastating hole in it.

When man sinned, he lost the Spirit of life in the garden and thereby remained like stone. The enemy saw to that. Then the Lord picked up Jesus Christ, an offspring of the dead stone (man) albeit with the gene of the living Spirit, or the Spirit of life, and by it made Him a living stone. By this living stone, Jesus Christ, the enemy that brought man to the dead stone bit, was attacked like David attacked Goliath, and was defeated on Calvary. Even though everyone rejected this stone, He became the head of the corner, having exposed principalities and powers and shaming them openly. In essence, everyone that accepts this living stone and becomes born again, is no longer a dead, but a living stone, just like Christ; and very potent like Him in the hands of God, against the devices of the defeated enemy.

As many as are tired of operating in deadness as brought on us by Adam, are at liberty to become living stones, like Christ. God has decided it so and has given us the leeway to be living stones. Therefore, no matter how the enemy has been messing us up in the days of our ignorance, just like Goliath did to the army of Saul, God has prepared us smooth living stones from hence, to bear hole in the skull of our aggressor and be free from tyranny of darkness and oppression of the devil. No matter the level where we had been rejected, just like David was rejected by his own family, God has located us with life and live we must. Soon, we shall be the head of the corner, like David. What is important is that we do not struggle with the Lord in his swing of our lives. David’s stone did not argue with him, neither did Christ argue with the father.

SOLUTION: Wherever the Lord sends us and, or, whatever He asks us to do, we should just do it no matter how seemingly stupid the instruction may appear. It is only when we are willing and obedient that we eat the good of the land. Please obey the Lord.

Please pray thus: Father, thank you for turning me into a living stone through the Lord Jesus Christ. From now on, please make me potent in your hands for the pulling down of strongholds in Jesus’ name. Do please make me relevant to my generation by your power in Jesus’ name.
