The Lord’s Sheep

Focus: John 10:27-29 - KJV

27. My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: 28. And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. 29. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.

John 10:22-29

The Lord is the great Shepherd. He has a large herd of sheep. His relationship with them is that of father and children. Indeed, because of His love for His sheep and closeness to them, His raiment smells of the sheep’s aroma. He practically bears them in His arms. Those He so bears are guaranteed eternal life and can never perish. And because of His might and prowess, it is not possible for anyone to pluck such off His hands. Not that attempts will not be made to pluck them or have them ease themselves away from the Lord’s arms through the deception of the enemy flung at the sheep, but by reason of the closeness to the Shepherd and the fact that the Shepherd is never quiet in the face of adversity, the sheep listens better to the Shepherd and obey Him rather than the voice of the enemy. If there be a ‘sheep’ (goat in reality) that strays into the herd of God, the one is not likely to know the voice of this Shepherd and therefore may not hearken to that voice. And when the predator approaches, it is found a prey by straying away. May that not be our own account in Jesus’ name. God meticulously takes care of them that are His children through His words. Those who are His know His word. They recognize His voice. They are kept close to Him as He carries them in His arms. If any strays, the same must have rejected the voice of His God. Those who abide, are preserved to eternal life and never allowed to perish or see damnation.

Your preservation is in the voice of God. If you have never heard God speak before, you can still find His voice in scripture. There is nothing He says audibly that contradicts what is written. We can overcome all the maneuvers of the enemy if we stay in obedience to the word of God. Believe it, when we so obey, He guards us jealously from the evil hands of the enemy. The preservation He offers is not only for now, but also into eternal life. Let us therefore appoint to be and remain the Lord’s sheep.

SOLUTION: Please be born of God. This is done by being born of water and of the Spirit. When that is accomplished, we become children of God. Having been born of God, get acquainted with His word. Meditate in it regularly. Act upon your discoveries from the word. You cannot miss out. Never turn your back on His directives or any of them.

Father, I know you are my Shepherd and for that sake, I shall not want. Please keep me permanently in your bosom away from the fangs of the devil, in Jesus’ name. Help me to remain obedient unto you alone forever in Jesus’ name. Let me never depart from your presence or deaf to your voice in Jesus’ name. Let eternal life be mine as your sheep in Jesus’ name.
