The Perfection Of Love

ree

Focus: 1 John 4:17 - KJV

17. Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.

1 John 3:1-16

When Christ prayed for believers before He transited from the earth, He asked that the father would fuse us into Himself just like He is fused with the father and they twine are one. The father acceded to His request by accepting His offering for our sins and taking us up in His righteousness such that as many as accept His Lordship are redeemed in His righteousness and are counted as righteous, like Himself. No wonder believers are called joint-heirs with Christ. Nevertheless, since He is not known to sin and no sin can be found in Him, the believer can only be like Him if he continues to operate in righteousness and not sin, wherefore, the believer will see Him and see the semblance between Him and himself. No sinner will appear like Him on the last day. To remain in righteousness is to operate absolutely in love for one another just like He gave us an example of Himself.

Cain was adjudged a wicked being because he loved not his brother and could not take the care of his own brother. True to it, anyone who hates his brother is a murderer. Even before Cain slayed Abel, he was a murderer because he hated him. Abel was adjudged righteous because he was a true lover of God and of course, his brother. Ananias and Sapphira were invited into a love communion. They were comfortable with sharing from the common wealth contributed by others. When they were required to do theirs, they held some back so as to have an edge above the others in the communal setting. Such action is illustrative of the lack of love for the others. They, in simple terms, hated the other contributors and wanted to cheat them. They were murderers in themselves. Of course, no murderer has a part in Christ. Hence, they had to be shed like a burden.

The Lord is drawing our attention to the fact that love is a fusion and that it makes the one fused into the other. When we do love one another, the love fuses us into one, just like in a marriage between the man and his wife. Our loving one another endears us so much more unto Christ as our lover and fuses us into Him. If we refuse to love we have no part in Him. To forestall destruction in the end, God is calling us into love which is not fulfilled through lipservice only. Just consider the Ananias and his wife’s analogy and understand that we can be real haters in the sight of God in what we consider menial.

Please pray:

Father, I thank you for the love you have for me and for the kind of heart you gave me to love the brethren and forgive those who offend me. Do help me not to cross the line from loving others to hating anyone at all, in Jesus’ name. In any way where I may not have fully let go my offenders, do help me by your Spirit that my heart may be fully cleansed of it in Jesus’ name. In places where I have been clever by half thinking I am operating in wisdom but hurting my neighbor which may tantamount to hatred, please help me to desist forthwith and keep me fully in your righteousness, in Jesus’ name. Let this day separate me fully unto righteousness and far away from wickedness, in Jesus’ name.

Please share with others. God bless you.
