"My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children."— Hosea 4:6 (KJV)
Many believers experience unnecessary hardships, anxiety, and defeat simply because they do not know what God has already provided for them in His Word. It is not enough for the Bible to sit on our shelves or an app on our phones; we must intentionally study, internalize, and welcome its instruction into our lives. Forgetting God's truth affects future generations. When we prioritize a lifestyle of seeking His wisdom, we pave a path of divine blessing for our families.
It is a sobering reality that the greatest threat to a believer's life is often not external opposition, but internal ignorance. At a point in time, God’s people were not facing a lack of available revelation; rather, they were suffering from a willful rejection of God's truth. They suffered in their health, relationships, and lineage because they allowed a spiritual famine to settle in their hearts. A "lack of knowledge" goes deeper than a simple lack of information. It means failing to intimately know God, His nature, His voice, and His boundaries. When we stop feeding on the Word of God, our minds naturally align with the deceptions of the world, leaving us defenseless against the enemy's strategies. True spiritual knowledge acts as a protective shield. It reveals who God is, establishes our identity in Christ, and anchors us during life's severe storms. To avoid spiritual decay, we must transition from a superficial familiarity with Scripture to a deep, active obedience to its principles.
Take an honest look at your daily schedule. Are you giving more time to entertainment, social media, and worldly voices than you are to the living Word of God? Commit to spending at least 15 uninterrupted minutes reading the Bible and praying for revelation. Do not just skim the words; ask the Holy Spirit to give you deep, practical understanding that you can actively apply to your life today.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, I thank you for the gift of your holy and life-giving Word. Forgive me for the times I have neglected your truth or let the distractions of this world consume my mind. I ask that you root out any spiritual ignorance from my heart today. Grant me a teachable spirit, open my eyes to see wondrous things in your Word, and give me the strength to walk in daily obedience, in Jesus’ name. Protect my family and guide my steps by your light, in Jesus' mighty name, Amen.
Pease share. God bless you.
