The Will Of God

Focus: John 6:40 - KJV

40. And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

John 3:14-17

Our Lord is a God of purpose. There is nothing He does without first having the end in sight. When He created man, it was solely to take over the superintendent of the earth away from the reach of the enemy who was banished from heaven. When man failed in the role however, He brought a plan to redeem him and restore the control of the earth to him by coming in the flesh to die in the stead of man for the sin man committed. The way that works however, is that only the man that sees and believes in Him will be so redeemed and have the control of the earth, even as he receives that which Adam lost, which is life everlasting; and even if he be dead, he will still rise with Christ on the last day. Now, this Will of God includes that whoever comes to Christ should be preserved in Him and not allowed to be lost.

To demonstrate the ability to raise the dead, Christ, while on the earth, raised several dead. But to avoid disputation based on the laws of Moses that it was possible for a dead to rise on the third day, he waited for four days to raise dead Lazarus up. Hence, He showed that what is impossible with the ordinary man, is possible with Him. To further demonstrate the truism in His statements, He Himself rose from the dead and ascended into heaven a living being touched by witnesses. There is nothing He said He would do in fulfilment of the Father’s will that He did not demonstrate to those whom the Father has drawn to Him whether then while He was on earth, or now to those who live by faith.

The Lord is reassuring us of His thoughts towards us which are of good and not of evil, that we may come to an expected end, which is eternal life in Christ Jesus. He is reminding us of the condition for that life which is reserved for the believer. We are to believe in Christ and uphold His commands to the very end. No one gets life except through Him. This simply means, for as long as you believe and live your life by Him, you will be saved. It matters not what the world or anyone at all says. God will not say He is no longer saying what He had said. He will bring His purpose to bear in the end. Be a part of the team of believers that will take full control over the earth and put the devil to shame.

Thank you, father for giving us Jesus Christ to turn our fate around from death to life. Do let your power that has drawn us to Christ keep us glued to Him till we gain eternal life fully, in Jesus’ name. Let eternal life begin to manifest in my life fully even from this side of eternity that the world may see me as your model of the same and be drawn unto you thereby, in Jesus’ name. Let everything that does not pertain to life currently clinging to me drop off permanently today, by the power in the blood of Jesus Christ, in Jesus’ name.
