7. Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared;
Matthew 26:39-44
With our God, nothing shall be impossible. However, our God has particular attributes that make Him who He is and He will never deny Himself. For instance, His promises are yea and in Him, Amen. Nevertheless, since He occupies eternity untimed, He sees the ending of all things at its beginning. When a thing will end up destroying the destiny of an individual, even though it seems good to the candidate, the Lord in His loving kindness would in the interest of the person withhold His assent to the request. In the face of uncanny observers, the Lord had “callously” withheld answer to a legitimate request. Whereas in the end, the goodness of God in His action, would show.
The closest being ever to the Most High, known to man is the Lord Jesus Christ. indeed, in Him all things consist. It is however written of Him that at a time, He made a request of the Lord in prayer to the extent that He sweated blood. Rather than get an assent to His request, the maximum He got was angels to comfort Him in His rejection. In actual fact, the rejection was glaring when after bearing in His body the sin of man, there was a separation between Him and the Holy Spirit who had always been with Him. But then, within the spate of three days, the one who seemed abandoned received all powers in heaven and on earth and received a name above every other name. He had the victory and the last laugh.
The Lord is saying to us that He is never a wicked father who would give a lethal weapon to His son to inflict himself with fatal wounds all because he asked for it. Hence, when it appears He is not granting us that which we desire in prayer, it is possible that the subject of our request is not in His will for us or, it will in the end hurt our destiny. And because our God would rather want us to get to an expected end, He would refrain from causing a derailment of that end, that our lives may give Him pleasure in the end just like Christ Jesus.
