Who Is Jesus To You?

Focus: Matthew 16:15 - KJV

15. He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?

Matthew 16:13-16

Knowledge is power. Unless and until we truly know the personality of our God, we do not get to appreciate the extent of His might. Even though in accordance with scriptural promises and pronouncements, He walked as the Son of man amongst men, many of whom were teaching about Him, yet seeing Him, they did not recognize Him to give Him the honor due. So, they called Him one of the prophets, just like some still do today, even though in their scripture it is so clearly set out that He is the Lord’s anointed; some said He was Elijah the one who would call down fire at will to kill innocent soldiers while working in defense of their country; others even said He was John the Baptist, His human cousin of the same generation who had just been slain.

It is possible for us to have the Christ walking in our presence and through some familiarity or crass unconscionability, miss Him. The bane of mankind since the fall, is not recognizing the person of God. This was worsened when He decided to present Himself in the flesh and mankind still ignores Him. Incidentally, He is not only the Almighty, He is the one who calls those things that are not as if they are and they become; He exists on His own accord and not by any person’s fiat; He is so mighty that the mighty call Him mighty; He is one that no being can push on the chest to say who art thou? He is the one through whom all things consist – meaning, nothing is, except by Him. Those who fail to accord Him recognition are dead while yet seeming to be alive.

The cognizance that Simon gave Him in calling Him the Christ, which is the Anointed One – the one that all scriptures, prophets and prophesies had been speaking about – was just to give a wrapped description of the one who surpasses all description. When He made Himself known as the I am to Moses, He simply was saying I am indescribable. Hence, He is making it clear to us today that it is because we do not know Him that we take Him for granted from time to time. The Lord has come to give us stern caution today. Who is He? Whatever you deem Him to be to you is who He is. But never take Him as a little being for He is indeed mightier than the mightiest. His name is Jesus. He is the Christ.

SOLUTION: Never join the league of those who look down on God to disobey or disrespect or disregard Him. No one can have a little incline of the person of God and not hold Him in awe. All those who operate otherwise are in error and will have themselves to blame in the end. Fear God and give Him the honor due in Christ.

Please pray:

·      Give thanks to God for relating with you despite being so far higher in being, integrity, reputation and stature than you are

·      Ask God to forgive you for ever taking Him so low in your mind at any time at all

·      Tell Him you subsume yourself under Him and that He should just reign on in the affairs of your life to the exclusion of all others

·      Ask that His Kingdom will come on earth as it is in Heaven

·      Ask for your daily bread for today

If you are blessed by this post, kindly share with your contacts, as well as others, that they may be blessed also. Thank you and may God bless you abundantly as you do so, in Jesus’ name.
