A New Name

Focus: Isaiah 62:2-3 - KJV

2. And the Gentiles shall see thy righteousness, and all kings thy glory: and thou shalt be called by a new name, which the mouth of the LORD shall name. 3. Thou shalt also be a crown of glory in the hand of the LORD, and a royal diadem in the hand of thy God.

Isaiah 60:11-16

There are names and there are names. Names are intended to give an identity to a being upon birth so that he may be distinguished from others. Everyone that is born into the world, is given by God, unto the world, as His heritage. And, since the thoughts of God towards us all are of good and not of evil that we may come to an expected end, He proffers for us beautiful names that make us fulfil His purpose. For instance, David brought forth a child and named him Solomon. In the meantime, in the heart of God, that child was His beloved and ought not to be so named. Hence, God said his name was Jedidiah. When Rachael had Benjamin as she was about to die, she called him child of sorrow, but somehow the father changed it to Benjamin instead. As names are changed from bad to good, so do people attempt to give bad names to people in replacement of their good names based on particular circumstances that happen to them in life.

There are people in the Bible that are not known by their given name but their circumstance, like the mad man of Gadara; and there are others who have names added to their given names for special identification like Blind Bartimaeus, Simon the leper etc. The point is, unlike what God intends, people, because of the affliction that comes from darkness, ascribe names to others who are ordinarily righteous, by which names they are taunted by the enemy. The position of God will however, be the one that will triumph in the end, in that for everyone called by His name, He promises to give a new name; and those that had stuck an evil name on them in this life, would end up bowing to them in the end, when the Lord shall bring them into glory. Imagine the scenario that played out between the rich man and Lazarus: the latter would have been dehumanized in life because of his circumstance; but in the end, the rich man begged that he may dip his hand in water and drop some in his mouth. The glory to come, is greater than the trauma of the present day, by far, if we can endure to the end.

Beloved, have you been given some miserable nomenclature because of what the enemy is hauling your way? There is good news for you: The Lord has decided to give you a new name and even now, the glory that the name brings will show forth for all your mockers to see. If you will glorify the Lord as God today, rest assured, those that had mocked you hitherto, are coming to bow to you, that the name of the Lord may be glorified in your life. Indeed, you will suck the breast of kings as the Lord has said. Wait for it.

SOLUTION: Remain steadfast, immovable, looking unto Jesus Christ. Never shift focus; await your new name. The one who made Joseph the prisoner change name to Prime Minister is on your matter. Like Joseph, you must remain on His side, no matter the current trauma.

Please pray: Daddy, I love you still; no matter what the enemy pushes my way, you remain my God. Please change the evil name the enemy has ascribed to me, to a more glorious one today; let them that had mocked me come bowing to me, that your name may be glorified, in the name of Jesus Christ.
