Key verse: Matthew 19:26
But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.
Wealth and riches can be a huge hindrance to entering the Kingdom of God. The reason for this is not far-fetched. Many holders of wealth worship the same in that they find it difficult to part with it. Money stacked at the detriment of the needy is done in wickedness anyway. There is no love in anyone who keeps money and refuses to assist those in need while he can. Hence, there is no Heaven for someone who lacks love. No wonder Christ said it is easier for a Camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God. However, as difficult as this may appear with man, since man is fraught with lust when it comes to pleasure derived from wielding power acquired from wealth possession, it is not difficult at all with God. It is possible for God to make someone wealthy and still enter the Kingdom with ease.
Elisha was a wealthy farmer. When Elijah assumed he was the only one on the side of the Lord and the Lord declared to him that He had seventy thousand aside from himself who had not bowed a knee to any fake god, God asked Elijah to appoint the wealthy Elisha in his stead as prophet. As difficult as it may be for the wealthy to enter the Kingdom, Elisha, though wealthy, by the faith he had in God that made him not to have bowed to Baal, left all his riches and burnt the bridge that would have linked him back to his wealthy profession, to serve the Lord instead. God made it possible. Peter was poor. But one beautiful morning, by the word of the Lord, he caught a draught of fishes into boats and his fortunes would have been changed if he held on to the acquisition. But he caught something better than fish that day and abandoned the fish for the Kingdom. God made it possible.
What is your status or position in life that is making you seemingly unqualified for the Kingdom? God is poised to assist you in overcoming the obstacle. Is it money? First you must realize that you brought nothing into the world and will take nothing out of it. That will help you to surrender all to God who is able to make all things possible for you. Or have you committed some sin in the past that the devil is tormenting you over? God is willing to assist you by erasing your past from His record and giving you a clean slate to start with, if you will determine to live in love going forward. Ask Him for help today.
Pray: Lord, I need your help. Do please help me in Jesus name.
