Avoid Being A Tout

Focus: 1 Corinthians 9:27 – KJV: But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

Believers are called to help others out of darkness into the marvelous light of God. But the enemy does not want his captives to fall out of his grip. Hence, he engages the believer in crass spiritual warfare to make sure that he does not only fail in attracting others into the light but that he himself falls back into darkness. A fall is possible when the believer is deceived and lured by his lusts into doing things abominable unto God. Hence, like the tout in the motor garage, whose business is only to invite others to travel with the bus, the believer who gets deceived and falls, loses out as he is excluded from the light himself.

It is arguable that the greatest loser of all times is Judas Iscariot. He had an opportunity to walk side by side with Christ, dine and wine with Him and even went on evangelical exploits using His name with devils bowing to him. In the end, his love of money got the better of him. Even though he had been instrumental to delivering others from darkness, he ended up being consumed by it.

Are you being lured or enticed by the enemy to do things which you know Christ will not approve? The way to your victory is in abstaining from every appearance of evil and doing the will of God to the very end. Everything that is attracting you to lust is the devil’s joker card aimed at railroading the believer, like he did Judas. Decide today, like brother Paul, to put your body under so as not to end up like a tout. Keep your focus on the goal, which is eternal life.

Prayer:

Heavenly father, I thank you for the grace to introduce your kingdom of light unto others. In every way that I had stumbled in the past, please let your mercy prevail. My heart is fixed on making it into your light perpetual in eternity. Let nothing hinder me from it. Every plan of the enemy to cause me to stumble and fall, please thwart it today, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
