The Hope Of Eternal Life

Focus: Colossians 1:5 – KJV: For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel;

Everyone who names the name of the Lord and leads a victorious life as a believer is given the hope that there are treasures laid up for him in heaven after exiting this current world in the body. In truth, this realm is not our home; for we are mere sojourners passing through without the ability to stay here forever. But God, who cannot lie, has promised that when we lay down this body of clay, we shall transit into another realm called eternity. The believer’s hope is for eternity in heaven where there is never pain.

Moses was born into a position of absolute earthly security, wealth and power. But he walked away from it because his focus was on a heavenly record. Hence, by faith, he refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter preferring to suffer with the people of God because he had respect for the recompense of the reward. In the end, God had him packed up to heaven such that he never had a grave. Stephen in the New Testament, stripped physical death of its terror and pain because he was aware of his heavenly hope.

Today, the Lord is reminding us that there is nothing we have in this world that will not be left here at the end of our journey. He wants that we consider critically the hope He has given us of what is laid up for us in heaven, so that we may live worthy of eternal life. Only those who abhor sin can boldly say in the end, like Paul, that I have fought a good fight of faith and I have finished my course, and a crown is laid up for me in heaven. Check: if death comes today, are you able to truly assert that you have finished well? If not, please have a rethink and retrace your steps today. Jesus is beckoning still.

Prayer:

Thank you, Lord for the hope of bliss in heaven which you have given to me and everyone who loves your appearing. Whatever the enemy may try, please keep me focused on this blessed hope that I may reign with you eternally. Everything in my hands that may cause me to lose that hope, please retrieve today. Let me forever be found in righteousness, in Jesus’ name.

Please share. God bless you.
