Avoiding Death

Focus: John 8:51 - KJV

51. Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death.

John 6:28-40

Death is the end of every journey on this side of eternity, a situation brought about by the fact that man challenged the authority of God. However, in Christ Jesus, the loving God has made for us a provision such that everyone that believes in Him and does the works of God may not perish through death, but have everlasting life. But many have exhibited faith and have died, many might say. Yes, they are not dead but asleep. They are the ones of whom Christ said He would raise them up on the last day. Nonetheless, by the promises of our Lord, the hope of every believer is never to see death; and if by chance he needs sleep before Jesus comes for the saints, he would be raised up to life eternal.

Scriptures confirm that it is possible never to taste death. Melchizedek, Enoch, Moses and Elijah have no graves. That presupposes that it is possible never to die. The author and finisher of our faith laid down His life for our ransom. He slept for three days, in a manner of speaking and He rose. Though while He slept, He was laid in a tomb, but because He arose on the third day, the tomb is empty. This is proof to the hope that even if we sleep, He would raise us up again. Nonetheless, He has given us assurance that if we do the works of the Lord, like Enoch walked with the Lord and was not, we also will not see death. This is made practical through the rapture, an episode which is about to play out in the sight of the whole world.

When the Lord comes for His Church real soon, would we be light enough to be taken? That is the question of God to us today. It is about time to restore life to mankind and do away with every issue of darkness. But then, only those who are not heavy in the flesh but made light by the fruit of the Spirit would hear the sound of the trump and take the flight. The weight of sin will prevent many from being able to fly to meet Christ up in the air. Therein lies life eternal. Worry not about them that are asleep for they will not be burdened or prevented from the flight if they did the works of God in their lives. Ponder on your ability to hear the trump and take the flight when the Lord shall come.

Please pray:

Father, I thank you for my life thus far. If you will, please let me never be a candidate of death, in the name of Jesus. Please cut off me every baggage of the world dear Lord, in the name of Jesus. Let me not see death in any way O Lord, in Jesus’ name. And, if because you tarry in your coming, I have to sleep, please be sure to raise me up in the end so that I may not perish with the devil, in Jesus’ name.

Please share with others. God bless you.
