Called Or Chosen?

Focus: Matthew 22:14 – KJV - For many are called, but few are chosen.

In the process of recruiting an army, there is first of all a call to everyone who thinks they meet the requirement for enlistment to apply to join. A training program is arranged for those who are called from the large list of applicants, and then, from those called, only the fittest are chosen to partake in the battle at hand. It is the same in the army of Christ. It is not everyone that is called that is chosen for the task that the Lord has for His Church.

When the Midianites invaded Israel, Gideon blew a trumpet and sent messengers to assemble an army. 32,000 men answered the call to fight. They all wore the uniform and showed up at the camp. God told Gideon that the army was too big. The fearful were then sifted and, instantly, 22,000 men walked away. They were called, but their fear outweighed their faith. With 10,000 men left, God sifted them again at a water brook based on how they drank. The men who dropped their shields, put their faces directly into the water, and let their guard down were dismissed. Only 300 men scooped water with their hands, keeping their eyes up and remaining alert for the enemy. Out of the original 32,000 who were called, only 300 were chosen by God to win the battle. The 300 possessed the specific traits God required: courage, alertness, and complete reliance on divine strategy.

Today, the Lord has called many to join the army of Christ in these last days. But He has not chosen all the called. The process of sifting is ongoing. Only those who are courageous about their faith so as not to compromise, alert enough to watch and pray always, placing complete reliance on divine providence and strategy are being chosen. Do you possess these qualities or are you still operating in the realm of milk suckers to only be grouped with the babes? Make up your mind today on whether you want to remain mentioned amongst only the called or you want also to be chosen of God. The choice is clearly yours for it is by their fruit that we know them.

Prayer:

Thank you, Lord for making me one of the people you called into your fold. I crave to be chosen of you four use as your vessel and steward. Please help me like the king’s eunuch helped Esther, that I may qualify to please you in my ways and be chosen of you. Let not my calling become a waste but an asset to my being chosen in Jesus’ name. Amen.
