Awake

Focus: Romans 13:11-12 - KJV

11. And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. 12. The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.

Ephesians 5:13-16

When a man sleeps, he is in some form of darkness and devoid of the light of the happenings around. That is why it was when men slept that the enemy sowed tares. Literally, it is good to sleep for a refreshing; but when sleep becomes unduly prolonged it may tantamount to the sleep of death. The time a man has on earth is very limited. Yesterday, he played about as an infant, before long he was a youth and now, he has gotten wrinkled. Before he knows it, time has caught up with him, with many important things left unachieved. It is important for such a man to wake up from the slumber because very soon it will be over for him. If the promise of the return of the Messiah is to happen in a number of years, every day spent is subtracted from the time estimated and therefore, nearer than when we began to count.

The world today, is far from the realization that the days are evil in that for every day that passes, judgment and, of course salvation, draw nearer. For those who are in their wrinkling ages, they have little time left and need to urgently redeem the time. But who really does not need to, since age is no determinant for death? We awake from our sleep when we abdicate the evil called darkness and put on the garb of the light. People grope in darkness and no progress is made therein. Those who forsake darkness for the light, receive salvation and mercy to live in eternity with Christ. Take a thought: assuming something happens now that brings death about, where would we end up?

The Lord is saying it is time to brace up for all the signs of the apocalypse are already visible. Let us therefore, ensure we sleep no more so as not to end it up in darkness when Christ will appear. Time is ticking; and no one knows when the curtain will be drawn for all, or for himself as a person. Let us please put urgency into our Kingdom affairs, and be vigilant about it. Let us begin to number our days and lend our hearts to wisdom.

Please pray:

Thank you, Lord for the opportunity to know how to count my days so as to put my heart to wisdom by rising from my slumber and doing what guarantees my heaven. Please help to accelerate my progress on this pilgrimage called life on earth, so I may not forfeit my inheritance with the saints, in Jesus’ name. Let every frivolity in my life be dropped for the pursuit of the kingdom, in Jesus’ name. Every spot of darkness presently identifiable in my life, I surrender to you, kindly clear them all, in Jesus’ name.

Please share with others. Bod bless you.
