Be focused

Memorize: Isaiah 60:15

Whereas thou hast been forsaken and hated, so that no man went through thee, I will make thee an eternal excellency, a joy of many generations.

Read: 1 Kings 17: 8-16

The hills of the last year are in the past. There are greater opportunities and benefits ahead of you in this new year as the Lord lives. The tendency is for man to reflect too long on happenings in the past and thereby lose grip of the present and greater opportunities in the horizon. I have seen creditors running after debt and losing sight of greater opportunity for a larger income. It is good to have all debts paid back by debtors to one, no doubt. It is however foolhardy to pursue the same in a neck breaking manner. If you leave the debtor to refund his debt while you pursue better things the tendency is for you to gain both ways.

Although your past has not been as glorious as you would have wanted, the Lord has promised to make you an eternal excellency and a joy of many generations. Focus on that promise and you will not regret you did. The widow of Zarephat was a woman in same stead. She had no help or succor anywhere. She had determined to end it all as there was nothing left. But when the Word of the Lord hit her as it came from the mouth of the prophet, she keyed into it, and today many generations are still learning of her deed. Due to what God will do for you this year, many generations will learn from your goodness in Jesus’ name.

Don’t dwell too much on the past. Glean on today for the future. The Lord is with you.

Pray:

Lord, remember your promise for my life; make me a joy of many generations starting now in the name of Jesus Christ.
